Did you ever install it in your 500e? If so, how did it feel?

If not, what does PAD say the chip does for the 500e?

IT REMAPS THE ECU LH UNIT. IT INCREASES THE REV LIMIT TO LIKE 7000 RPMS. I INSTALLED IT JUST TO TRY IT. BUT ITS NOT FOR ME I JUST WANT TO KEEP MINE STOCK IM NOT STREET RACING IT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. SO IM WILLING TO LET IT GO CHEAP. I HAVE THE BOX AND THE MATERIAL IT CAME IN.

Are you sure it raises the rev limit? I have a chip and my car still shifts at 6200 rpm. I know Curcio has a PAD chip same in his car, and his car shifts at the same point.

I thought that the chip just changed the full throttle enrichment throughout the rev band.

500 chip

Dave when I installed it to try it. The damn thing went to almost 7,000 I swear. These chip increase the rev limit but also eliminate igntion or fuel cut off. I was amazed but I didnt want to risk it. It depends how your trans kickdown cable is adjusted also. But mines went to almost 7 but its not work taking it that high.

Hmmmm-sounds like a defective chip, quite frankly. I could see removing the speed limiter (to allow the car to red-line in fourth, which equates to 6,000 RPM and 165 MPH), but in this particular application why would you want it to rev higher-just to blow up something like the A/C compressor, air pump or hydraulic pump? The power/torque curves on that motor will net you nothing simply by increasing the revs....power/torque fall off after that point. I don't get it.

PAD claims something like a 10% gain in HP with the chip, BTW. And indeed my car shifts at 6,200 RPM for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, but the others are at 6,000. Exactly the same as OE.

ItalianBenz, I'd return it to PAD!

CHIP

HEY MIKE THANKS FOR INPUT. SO YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I INSTALLED IT. TELL ME ONCE YOU INSTALLED THE PAD CHIP DID YOUR E AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE THE SHIFT POINTS TO 6200 RPMS CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE YOUR BOWDEN CABLE IS ADJUSTED AT. YOU KNOW THE LINKAGE ON THE BACK FIREWALL AREA. THERES 2 LITTLE POINTERS DO THERE MATCH ON THE LINKAGE ARMS. ITS BLACK IN COLOR THE PLASTIC PART WHICH HAS A NOTCH IN IT,DOES IT MATCH I NEED TO KNOW THIS. THIS WILL HELP ME THANKS MIKE.

I had the PAD chip installed also and noticed that if I put it in drive it shifted as normal at 6200rpms or so, but if I put the car into a select gear such as 2nd, then I could rev the car well past the normal shift point up until the fuel pump relay cut out the fuel something like 6800 or so. You guys with PAD chips give it a try. I don't think there is anything wrong with the chip.

My bowden cable's poiters line up exactly, as per spec. My car shifts at the same points/rpms that it did pre-chip upgrade.

Eric, I'll pass on the 6,800 rpm check...I'm just afraid I'd grenade one of the ancillary drives (ie A/C compressor, air pump, alternator) so I'll take your word on it

No tranny work (knock on wood), although I do run Red Line Synthetic ATF.

Guido,

First, thanks for the "run cooler" modification that you sent me. Hope to install this week.

Second, I also had some shift mods to my tranny while it was out for resealing (it had a minor leak when I bought it, & I don't like leaks.. at all.. so while doing the timing chains, we also resealed the tranny). I don't know exactly what was done, but it was described as "reprogramming ... consisting of some 18 modifications to the valve body... springs, valving, etc" I can research to determine more details, but the difference is noticeable. The car would previously start in first gear if you pinned it to the floor from standstill. But once, rolling was very reluctant to kick back to first gear. Now it will kick down readily even when just easing along. That aspect is very different and is wonderful.

The other aspects, (other kick down points and shift points) do not appear to be noticeably different.

I must say that like it.
