Cool New England Dragway Results

We finally all met up in Epping, NH for the drags. It was extremely hot all night, at least 90+. I got 3 runs in, all under 16. I lost to a 6.6L Trans-Am and a 5.0 Stang and I beat an Integra. How did you guys do? I didn't see you on the way out. Oh yeah, I still have the pants...

R/T ... .626
60' ... 2.646
330 ... 7.032
1/8 ... 10.492
MPH ... 71.34
1000 ... 13.426
1/4 ... 15.896
MPH ... 90.35

No engine mods. Just suspension and exhaust work. I'm going in for more exhaust work soon.

8/15 drags

Well, Jims500E and I made it to NH last night, where we met up with Paul K. & his brother; Paul had his 2.3-16 and his bro ran a W140 300SE!! What with the ambient temp being around 80 degrees, no records were shattered for sure-my best was a 14.1 @99.7 MPH, which is a bit off pace (plus my R/T was a marginal .609).

Got to run head-to-head with Jim, though; it was good to see a chipped vs non-chipped car. My conclusion-the chip does NOTHING. I may have beaten Jim, but it was just barely and purely because I got a jump on him off the line. From that point on down the track, it must have looked like we were glued to each other. Could've easily gone the other way.

That was quite a long haul from central CT-I think next time we need to hit the strip in the Albany, NY area.

I may try to sneak up to Lebanon Valley before the end of the season...do they have any weekday "test & tune" nights?

Jeff, I'd like to run ya-I think it'd be pretty close

Even though the ride was a long one from CT to NH, it was almost as fun as the drag itself. I'm surprised that neither Micheal or myself wasn't thrown in the slammer for the extended near double the speed limit we held much of the way up. Coolness.

Here was my best time for the 8/15 drag

R/T - .748 (could I be any slower off the line?)
60' - 2.214
330' - 6.051
1/8 - 9.168
MPH - 78.47
1000 - 11.864
1/4 - 14.123
MPH - 100.93

Not bad for a 126,000 mi, stock (save K&Ns) car with junk in the trunk.
Count me in on the Lebanon Valley deal and as for Bristol on the 26th...I'll be in my Scirocco. See ya' there.

And my info:

R/T - .895 (Uuugh! I later redeemed myself with a .609)
60' - 2.158
330 - 5.999
1/8 - 9.131
MPH - 78.12
1000 - 11.839
1/4 - 14.107
MPH - 99.67

Only mods are 245/45-17 rubber, an apparently useless EPROM chip and K&Ns. 88k mi.

Very similar to Jim's info, eh? And both were done in the same lane; the other lane was a bit slippery and I think hurt my other time, a 14.498 @99.70 MPH

Michael & Jim,

Is your traction control bypassed? If so, what was the wheelspin like and if not, did the light come on? Do you think it makes a difference either way?

I bypassed mine; Jim did not. I only power-braked my car to about 1,400 RPM before I left the line, so had very little wheelspin (the launch pad at most drag strips is pretty sticky).

I think it makes a tiny difference, if you can coax just the right amount of wheelspin. Otherwise it nets you nothing

times

Well, I'm finally back from 2 weeks vacay up in NH, which was conveniently 15 miles away from NED. Here's my best of the 2 events I did (9 runs!), not blistering but OK...

R/T : .614 (I redded once @ .499, whoops)
60' : 2.555
330' : 6.796
1/8 : 10.320
MPH : 70.09
1000': 13.369
1/4 : 15.960
MPH : 87.03

Not bad w/ 132k, stock except K&N & 225/45/16's, though I'd hoped for better.

Hope to see some of you (?) @ this Sun's autocross here in CT.
