Hey JCO, don't you live in New York? Glad to see you're OK, had not seen you post for a while.

Hey SV,
Yeah, I'm here in NYC, was at my home office just across the East River in Brooklyn on the 11th....saw the whole thing from my window about 3 miles away. It was a horrible scene to witness... the face of true evil descended on our City. Still a bit unbelievable to look out the window and the towers are gone. Luckily no one I was close to is missing.....but a friend of mine lost his son, Sean Talin, a Firefighter and former Marine....he was from ladder 10. closest station to the WTC and first in. A truely brave man. I was scheduled to be married on the 16th, but under the circumstances we postponed the celabration for happier times. My now wife and I got married in a private ceremony and then went on our honeymoon as planned. Went to Europe and had a fantastic time, met many wonderful German, English and Spanish all very supportive of us. Everyone here is trying to get back to a normal life....but it is difficult and no one will ever be the same...I don't know anyone who doesn't know of someone missing. On to happier subjects; I have a new ML500 due in a few weeks and a second CLK55 due in November.....I am selling my current 55 and may in light of the current recession have to decline the second 55 as well....have to wait and see how the next month goes. I may have to let the CLK go and set my sites on the SL, life could be a lot worse! Racing and track time has had to take a back seat this season, hope to get back in the saddle in the spring. Probably more than you wanted to know but I felt like venting...thanks for thinking of us here. p.s. Any of you want a GREAT drive: highway A376 Marbella to Sevilla....a two lane dream! We should start a thread of greatest road drives in the world. Jim Last edited by jco; 10-04-2001 at 12:41 PM. |

Your CLK55 is so nice, why are you selling it? I'm guessing the second CLK55 is a cabrio? The new M-class is really nicer than the pre 2002 ones. And has your dealer told you when they expect to get the SL55's here in the US?

Give me a date, and if the airline prices are still low, I just might fly out from California.
It would be even better if someone could pick me up. :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E |

Neil,
Yup, you do. I spoke with Don Klein (Editor-In-Chief, Mercedes Momentum Magazine) today, and he was talking to Lime Rock this afternoon and attempting to nail down a date; I'll post it as soon as it's firm. Tschuess, and see you then!! PS: 4 weeks until "Jim's 500E" and I are burning up the Nurburgring Nordschliefe...

SV....
The CLK coming is actually a coupe...it's the one I ordered a long time ago and is the color and option package I wanted...the one I have now I picked up on a cancellation almost a year ago....I couldn't wait! I decided on an ML because NYC is just too hard on the CLK, the ML will become my 'urban SUV' .I still want the CLK, cause I've got alot of tweaks I want to try on it...might even turn it into a track car, I just hope I can swing both cars...it's a pain that they are both arriving so close together...business is way down right now... |

Count me in...as long as there is enough lead time and work travel doesn't interfere with my playtime.
I've been to both Pocono and LRP in my 911 turbo (which is sold) but itching to get the E55 on the track to stretch out its legs...hopefully can remember the track and the best lines... LC |

Count me in too. Have done quite a few track events with the Porsche Club some years back. LRP one of my favorites. Looking forward to see what my e420 can do.
