Racing 116 3.5
Has anyone had any experience in racing the 3.5 116 engine?
I am planning to take my 350SLC Europe model/grey market to the drags and see what type of time I can pull. The only reports that I have seen is that it is 200HP, 0-60 9 sec. - I am guessing but I would say it could do the 1/4 in 17 sec or less. I run a 3:9 something rear gear on this puppy, K&N filter with ram air cool inlet up front, automatic (4speed). I am taking off the catalytic converter, run a true stainless steel duel exhaust, at least to the rear muffler. Electronic fuel injection. Does anyone know these questions: Use of 4 prong plugs, any good? Recurve the distributor, or can it be done? Best setting on timing and fuel mixtures for getting the best times? Run with or without vacume advance? Can I set the valves a little lose? This little SLC runs extremely well for 213 cubic inches. Pulls strong through all gears, it hits second gear with a strong bark, almost to the point of smoking the tires in second. Off the line a little sluggish. Thank you, Tim |
