I am contemplating the same thing... My idea was that you could wire two Ford 8 cyl EDIS modules in parallel to deal with that problem. They would surely fire off at the correct times but my only concern was getting the required power to the modules.

I am doing the same thing to a m112 V6 so for me it would be two EDIS 6 modules. I live in the ford truck and mustang capital so the junkyards are full the EDIS parts

Yes MSII can handle firing the 8 coils, but due to it only been able to run 6 separate firing times you will have to run them as Wasted spark with alternate cylinders firing.

The power will not be a problem as long as u have wires able to handle up to 20amps(10-11amps to each coil on high end items at max power) and use the right value resisters with separate IGBT drivers for each coil.

I would REALLY REALLY love to hear how you go with MSing the 5.5 M113, i am thinking of installing one in my 450SLC. The only problems you might have is that the dual sparks will fire at the same time in the cyliners where with the stock they are ment to be staggered(wont matter for max power) and controlling the valves in the intake manifold, tho MSII can control that if they are just a on/off switch that happens over Xrpm.

Have you looked at getting a MSIII, i think the 3rd version is coming out about now and i am pretty sure it will controll all of that and more. Also do u have the electronic gearbox, how are u controlling it, i know of a TCU(Powertrain controll solutions) that will controll it stand alone but would like any info u have on it too.

Yeah i am pretty sure the 4speed will fit on the 5.5. The 4 speed will probably be better for offroad anyway, its alot tougher.

You wont need to run 2 MS ECUs, one ECU will be able to run the engine above and beyond what you will use it for the ECUs themselves can run 12 cylinder engines and will have no problem running you V8 The dual spark plugs make it interesting but it will just be a matter of reading up on how to wire the spark plugs up which will really be a very easy task, just 4 signal wires triggering power to 2 coils each which really isnt much harder then what my car runs on. 4 signal to 1 coil each.

What car are u installing all this into? Is the 5.5 supercharged or N/A? Are you going to race it? Is the car for just general offroad use, offroad racing or anything specific. I would love to know more

Ohh and a suggestion if you dont already have coil packs for the car, have a look at you local truck wrecker, alot of small trucks Isuzu etc have twin coil 4 spark packs which are alot cheaper then most of the car ones and are exactly the same item

Well that should certainly move the 4WD along pretty fast, and very nice that the coil packs are mounted on the rocket covers . All the lowend torque in that engine will be crazy in such a light car

How much smaller is the M113 compared to the M119, still trying to decide which would be better suited to fit into a 450SLC engine bay, i know the M119 is a very very tight squeeze but i think the M113 is ment to be a little smaller.

I have some rough measurements for a M113 from under the car, so i am not sure how exact they are so i would love to compare them to what you measurements are.

I took most of my measurements from the Flex plate at the end of the transmission as i ll be installing both trans and engine and its a easy place to start from, making engine mounts is easier then driveshafts .

Flex to start of engine(trans lenght) ----------- 60cm
Trans width ----------- 28cm at widest, dont know height
Flex to engine mounts ------------------------ 86cm
Flex to near side of lower sump ----------------92cm
Flex to far side of Sump -----------------------113cm
Flex to furthermost part of engine -------------125cm
Widest part of the engine(the exhaust manifold) 70cm
Height is roughly ----------------------------- 64cm

These are rough measurements taken while under the car, i was more looking at what condition everything was in and making sure that it was really alittle smaller then the M116/7 like i believe.

Make an adapter plate so the tranny fits or use a 722.6 from a G-wagen.
