Help with a Motor Upgrade 500 to N/A 55.

i have a great deal on a N/A m113 55 motor.

my car is a 2003 s500 4matic.

i have contacted other memeber from other forums that have done swaps from there c43 motor to a 55 na motor with no problem at all just a simple drop install.

Will this be the same process on my car as the cars are practically the same mines the engine and a alittle bit more beefed up tran.

Does anything need to be done to the electronics/ECU or do i need to just drop it in and the car will adapt to it??

I was directed here from potomac auto as they new someone could put some light on this.

thanks

it will drop in and run, to get the most out of it you should send the ecu to renntech or someone to get it tuned.

my cars ECU is getting custom dyno tuned on Feb 21st in NJ by LETmotorsports. we have a bunch of car enthuists showing up getting tunes with there 65s,55s, and supercharger sl500s.

i have Headers, underdrive pulleys,55kintake w/green filters, performance ignition and complete exhaust work.

If i do the tune before i get the 55 engine will everything still be allright after i install the 55 engine?

plus if anyone interested in doing the custom dyno tuning in there cars... go to MBworld under the w211 E55forums LET Northeast Custom Dyno Tuning.

The ECU will probably need to tuned as the N/A 55's more than likely run more advanced timing and have bigger fuel injectors than the 500's. Otherwise it should be a plug in install, the heads on the 55 and 500's are the same with different cams which is why I would think the timing settings would be different.

LET should tune the ECU on my turbo E320 That would really smooth things over, just reset the damn thing to run to 11.7:1 AFR instead of 14.0:1 AFR so I don't have to use an aftermarket computer to trick things.
