Aftermarket super/turbo chargers for 560SL?

I realize that most of you will respond with "why bother". but I'm curious to know if there is a manufacturer of and aftermarket supercharger or turbocharger kit that would fit the 560SL motor. Most of the aftermarket guys don't bother with the older cars (except for Timevalve exhaust systems) but I wanted to at least pose the question.

Thanks for any serious response.

This forum is pretty boost friendly Most of us will encourage you

There used to be quite an underground base for twin turbo 560's but I guess it never caught on with the limited tuning abilities of the tech back then. In this(I think its an sel), the ABS pump has been removed it seems.

Prototype manfolds, the 2 on the right where the ones actually used.

Thanks for the info. If I want to pursue this, it will probably be a custom job through a local shop that does mostly MB work and the owner has worked for MB.

You should get hold of Roman, Pumpish on this forum. Or go to their website, turbobandit.com. See what they have to offer.

TT wont work in a SL, WAY to cramped in the engine bay, either a rear mounted turbo or a supercharger such as the one done on http://ozbenz.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8102

Thats the finnished product, he first started with a 5L motor and then ended up swapping it to a 5.6 http://ozbenz.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5470 If your look around the Ozbenz forums there you will see some more information about it. Its all custom tho, including the installation of a aftermarket ECU. SLC and SLs have the exact same engine bays.

There are no shops that will provide systems that will just bolt on for the 560. Your best bet is to install a Megasquirt like http://www.hitechengineering.net/DNN/MegaSquirted450slc/tabid/54/Default.aspx its cheap fairly easy to install and works as good as the ECUs that cost a fortune. Once you do that decide how much boost you want to run and go from there, it will be all custom work tho
