Sorry, no can do right now. It's in storage about 70 miles away. I'm working hard to relocate to a place where I can have all of my babies with me again like I used to. This having stuff in storage crap has got to stop! It's really no way to live!

I'm sure I'll post something about my relocation when it happens. When I do remind me and I'll be happy to post pics of Sidewinder! That will also remind me to post a pic or two of Festus for the wag who requested it.

Thanks for taking an interest in Sidewinder! I really miss the days when it was still practical to use my AMCs as daily drivers!

Seriously? Now you want to go? I've been regularly updating this thread trying to get folks to go for ages and NOW you want to go? They just had three dates that were fabulous stellar days with great weather conditions and small turnouts, two of which were the first two Saturdays of this very month!

Well, I'm thrilled that you want to go now but the lame idiots have closed down till February. Our next date is 2/15/2015. http://www.autoclubdragway.com/Tickets-and-Events/Street-Legal-Drags/Street-Legal-Drags-1.aspx
It's usually already starting to warm back up by then but I'll still be thrilled to go if you can make it!

Honestly though, I'm so fed up with ALL of my Benzes right now that I'd honestly rather see you get that XJR. What happened with that? Come-on Justin, get that XJR, do a few things to it, and then come down here and spank our local Justin's N2O assisted 500E! He needs to be humbled a bit!

Regards,
Eric

Board member j-sauce (So. Cal. Justin), who is best known in this thread for his N2O boosted 500E, but who has also piloted a Titan and an E34 BMW wagon at our drag days as well, has been building a C36 powered E320 wagon and he's gonna be gunning for my newly acquired 940 turbo Volvo wagon! That's right! A battle of the wagons is developing! This actually goes back quite a ways with us because I told the Sauceman ages ago (before he bought the Bimmer wagon) that if it's a wagon you want, go Volvo. Well, he didn't listen and instead bought the Bimmer, and then later the E320. Kids! They NEVER listen! Well, now I'm really going to drive the point home by spanking his knappy Benz!

This is also why I've been less active here lately. I've been hanging out with my Volvo buddies on my favorite Volvo site re-learning Volvo stuff. Surprisingly, it turns out that I barely need to do anything to this 940 to run an E/T that is quick enough for the task at hand. All the better. I'll have budget spent bragging rights as well! In spades!

Inter-brand rivalry always makes things more interesting! This will be my first time that I'll be bringing something other than a Benz to the races since before I joined this site! Up until now I've been beating up on Volvos with my Benzes but this next time I'll be representing for the Volvo side! Stay tuned and plan on coming this next time!

The Sauceman's wagon is still not ready so we didn't make these February dates either. Plus, this most recent date was rained out anyways.

As I've said before, I just HATE going by myself, so much so that now I'm pretty much refusing to go unless somebody else is going too.

Stevo has indicated that he may bring his 500E to this next date though, so that's encouraging.

So February was a wash, but the good news is that Saucer is VERY committed to making the next date which is on April 4th. (That's right, no March dates this year.) If nobody else here wants to run their car, at least please come to take videos of the Battle of the Wagons!

Regards,
Eric

I've relocated and am now quite a bit farther from the track but I'm still game if someone else is. I refuse to go alone though.

There were at least 3 different W124 wagons being built with C36 engines here in So.Cal., did any of them get finished yet? What's going on?

long time ago,I saw where a guy megasquirted his 3.6 amg engine, and had over 340hp.Makes sense, the old days we put on bigger carbs for power, more fuel and air.advance timing.

It seems to me that a 3.6 AMG engine so equipped should have no problem spanking a stock 234,000 mile Volvo wagon with only a-before-stock-air-filter intake, a cheap manual boost control valve, and hacked exhaust system!

Eric

A 500 showed up! Too bad it was a Fiat 500, not a 500E. It was one of those turbo ABARTH models. We ran and I beat him by a half second. Today's going to be a great day! I felt bad for him though so I gave him a few tips and pointers. He heeded my advice and proceeded to spank me on the next two runs! Arrrgh! He then called it a day and I was left trolling the pits again.

It's getting increasingly difficult to find a fellow 16 second car to race with at the track. Not many people left bothering with cars that are that slow. Not many cars left that are that slow either. I trolled the pits forever after the Fiat left and ended up with a V6 Altima coupe that spanked me three times in a row with high 15s despite my vastly superior reaction times. The races were fairly close though which is what I was after when I invited him to join me. I figured he'd be able to spank me. I was right! It's better than being beaten by 12 second cars though! Being able to run with a 4 valve 3.5 liter is at least a moral victory for B5 though.

The strange thing is that my M103 cars actually hold their own quite well in daily driving, where everything is generally from a roll. It's just getting out of the hole quickly at the drags where they come up short, because of their lack of low-end torque.

Got a best of 16.299 @ 87.69 out of B5, which ain't bad when you consider that I've hardly done anything yet to this car. I haven't even checked the air filter yet! At this stage of development, B1 was only able to muster a 16.9, and that was with a clean air filter! Even after the mods, the best B1 has mustered at this track in Fontana is a 15.95 @ 87.27! (The ET in the sig was attained at Pomona.) Interesting how unmodded, B5 is already beating B1's modded MPH! (In similar conditions.) So we are definitely off to a good start here with the new guy.

B5 has the disadvantages of having the taller 2.87 gears (vs. B1's 3.07s) and taller than stock tires (even taller than B1's taller than stock tires). B5 is also spinning a smog pump that B1 doesn't have to spin. On the flip side though, B5 has less than half the miles that B1 has. We are talking more than 100,000 fewer miles! Even on the mighty M103 W124, that has to count for something!

Those who know me well will tell you that I would never use the words "cool" and "Honda" in the same sentence. Stand back cause that's about to change! After the V6 Altima coupe left I was left to racing whatever I ended up with in the lanes. There was a cool late-80s-ish naturally aspirated 4 dr Honda Civic that ran a 14.057 against me. Car was running a functioning STOCK exhaust tip! No fart can! That's cool!

Above all else though this day was about testing "the resistor mod". The folks here on this site who care about it already know where the discussion on this topic is occurring.

Regards,
Eric
Hey check it out! I just found some video of one of this day's runs! It's one of the runs with the ABARTH. Of course it's one of Benzer5's slowest runs of the day, if not the slowest, and of course, as usual, nobody got video of me beating the ABARTH, only video of the ABARTH beating me. It's just like that night when Benzer1 spanked a Hemi Magnum about seven times and said Magnum beat us only twice, yet of course the only video of those runs is of the Magnum beating us. In both cases I made the mistake of feeling sorry for the kids and tutored them a bit on the art of working the light. (In the ABARTH'S case I also told him he needed to wail on the car harder to get the most out of it.) They then applied their new found knowledge and were then able to spank me. I've got to stop doing that! Anyways, I'm doing this to reinvigorate our drag racing scene. Nothing like some drag racing video to get the ole juices flowing! We've got to return to the track this Fall! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1ZlYmoGcJY

Regards,
Eric

I don't know what page the Benzer1 vs. Magnum video is on so here it is again.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umck_CzJ0m8

The fellow that did the Benzer5 vs. the ABARTH video also has this vid of Benzer1 getting thoroughly spanked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxjIOAbavgc

This brings up one of the reasons why I want to get some of you to go with me. It just sucks getting lined up against cars that are in a different league!

Any more trips to the dragstrip will include the presence of my two older kids, if not the whole family, so I will now be able to provide my own damn videos!

Regards,
Eric
