Your engine has the best intake manifold ever designed, its so effective in boosting torque that it negated the need for using variable cam gears. Yet and even with the compromised 3 valve head the engine still made 10 hp more than the M104 3.2. I see this intake to live as long as the rear multi link first seen on the W201

Its simply good but i dought its anywhere close to offer any acoustics worth hunting.
meaning to say what gives an engine its note is how the runners are tuned, look at Alfa V6 engines.

What ever u endup doing just make sure u keep the cold air feeds for the also offer some ram air benefits

Your car already has a factory cold air intake that works very very well. Any aftermarket solution will be a downgrade. "Cone" air filters are garbage, and they will transform your cold-air intake into a hot-air intake.

Go with a nice stainless exhaust system if you want more noise.

Cold Intake

Not necessarily

I recently modified my intake with a contained inline filter and ported it back up to the standard intake behind the chrome grill in my C280.
So the system is now shorter and contained yet simpler/more attractive/less space consuming.

Now my M104 has a growl at full throttle that puts V8s to shame

For the V6 and V8 cars you must use a 3" shielded filter and retain the factory cold air inlet location. It will flow better and give the car a better sound.
