Anyone install Fifft or Ziegler Euro headlights?

I am thinking of ordering either Fifft or Ziegler Euro headlights on my 1990 300CE. Does anyone have any experience with either of these 2 brands? I would prefer Bosch OE, but the cost seems excessive. Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

Fifft is a pretty large Italian firm. Ziegler makes parts for sale through German chain parts store D&W, among others, but I know nothing about the lights. Vallejo is another large brand name as well. There are some Tiawanese lights being sold under various brands, but I understand the fit and finish is a little marginal. Try a search on Euro lights. Some distributers have very good prices, and occasionally used lights. I personally prefer Hella or Bosch on these units, just as a purist, but the others may give good value as well.

I'm waiting until I can afford to buy some Euro 500E headlights. hehe I really want those over any other euros.

And I would pay handsomely for them at that time. too bad that is not going to happen until after I finish other mods.

Cosmetics last is what I feel...

Alon- I view Euro-headlights as a safety necessity.

BTW- if you go to Euro 500E's, then you won't have fog lights (and I do appreciate them living in Santa Barbara, Calif.) unless you do something else.

hehe neil, yellow globes already removed on my car. I now call mine Annoyance highs, cause they are ridiculously bright and blinding. I never use em, and here in LA, no need for them.

I find no problems with the output of my headlights even with stock bulbs, I had some 80w in there for a little while, took em out cause I didn't notice too much difference in light output, so figured why risk the electrical issues they might bring...

I just prefer the look fo the Euro's, and the 500E ones especially!! They look the best with all that chrome gleaming from behind the lens, like on your car..

I saw in another post what you paid, that is an acceptable price as far as I am concerned for the euro e500 lights.

For those other brands of euro lights, to me they don't look the same as the OEM bosch or hella units, even the TYC ones on e-bay.

euro lights

saguaro2000- i personally agree with jce. on a mod this important i won't take a chance on something that isn't oem.
a lot of times "aftermarket" items do NOT fit exactly right and [in my experience] are NOT the same quality. this is a voice of experience sharing with you.
do that search on euros john suggested.there are a lot of places listed where you can get them from. bosch and hella are definetly your best bets!

alon- love ya bro, but euro lights are a very important safety item/modification/upgrade.
do you drive much at night? have you driven a w124 with euros at night?
neil is right on.
if your fogs are very bright or have a noticeable "hot spot" the bulbs are a bit mis-aligned.
just a thought, if you never use foglights, how often will or could you use those driving lights?
the combo fog/euros is SUPER and doesn't blind anyone.

Well I do drive at night, but not on long road trips usually, and hardly ever on dark roads.

Most of my driving is city driving, and driving in the city at night can be done easily without headlights in LA... The street lights light up the roads pretty well from the start.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the Euro's are bad, I want them on my car, but I have other things I feel are higher up on my list of upgrades.

To me the stock headlights work fine, remmeber I am used to driving other vehicles of all sorts, and most of them the headlights where horrible compared to the benz. My Jeep had horrible headlights, and compared to my benz, the benz has twice as much light output as the jeep did. Before that it was an MGB... those were not great either, and before that,a GMC Jimmy K-5... as you can see, not too many good headlights I am used to, so the benz is liek night and day compared to them.

I try to drive as little as possible at night if I can. I mainly want the euro's for the Original designed look of the car, but also for their improved design and light output.

Alon
