$8k plus a new $19-$24k (lower engine #'s) 6.0 liter engine from Renntech could be a "interesting" collectable if the rest of the cars condition is not to weathered.

I wish I had some spare money to burn!

Hi Dave-

If you'd like a nice Starmark 1994 E500 Black Pearl w/ CD stacker and 45K on the odo, call my sales guy: Ed Keller at Rusnak Mercedes in Pasadena, CA. 626-229-2527.

I believe that the Starmark warranty is worth every penny as it automatically covers all major mechanicals and has no deductible for 12 mos (and can be extended to 36/ 100k).

re: PPI inspections, I'm not familar with any specific reputable companies (companies that stand behind thier PPI with a $$ and expiration term...)...but you may post an inquiry here and see what comes up.

If you are interested in the one that Ed Keller has a line on...you may wish to ask to examine records via a MBNET inquiry- - that will provide data on all the fact authorized service/repair history on the car...

I'm thinking that you'll be able to pick up this one at about $35K+tax+extended warranty+delivery/ maybe even negotiate for $38K out the door. (pull up kelly blue book and edmunds for current market pricing data for nego clout). I'm imagine that $38k for an as new '94 with a 3yr/100K MB warranty is a nice deal.

let us know what you decide & good luck
-fad

kinda looks that way, but might easily be explained by a wide-angle lense (e.g., anything less than 50mm focal length which is likely in a cheap digital camera).

Guido! My Ego is snugged for winter

Before I jacked her up and put her on blocks in my garage, I borrowed a friend's Benz with 8.5JX18 AMG Mono's running Z rated 265/45 Michelins and swapped them out on my ride.

I took her out for a permagrin spin. I will admit that the ASR light lit up a lot less often than the stock 16s. It also felt like I was riding on the rims. I see a lot of 18 inch set-ups for sale with short miles on them. When I call to inquire why for sale, I get a lot of UMMMS and ERRRS and AHHHHS for answers. I think that the truth of the matter is that their EGO wanted the 18s but their asses couldn't handle the rough ride.

Tom

OBTW - You still got that CD? And, If you do, does your deal include the mounting bracket and will it "plug" into my my existing radio without modification?

Nice looking car on ebay BUT... buyer beware with Daniel Schmitt & Company. Some of my Porsche buddies have had bad experiences with them. Check out this article before you send them any of your hard-earned money!

Hi Tom. sorry I sold it a while back. I have all the Factory Phone if your interested in that. Well I think Tires and the quality of htem have alot to do with it. I love my Mich Pilot Sports. The car has a smooth ride. I mean sure if you hit a dip or uneveness in the roadway. Your going to fell more. But I like more contact patch on the ground. I have a very Smooooth Ride. I think its from experimentation with didferent setups to come up with what I like. I admit 9.5 inch wheel in the back is a bit. I'm going to Shave my wheels. Next week. To bring the offset in. Cause I Still have some scrapping issues.

Guido's Italian Stallion

I don't know what it is with some guys (and gals(8^) wanting to change the appearance of this timeless classic to an Agressive Stance with oversized wheels.

Argueably, the absolute BEST automotive engineers in the world collaborated to build a 4 door Porsche sleeper hunter-killer.

The finished product was designed to allow the driver to traverse the planet without attracting the attention of every trooper looking to fill his/her quota or some kid in a souped up Mustang wanting to do the quarter mile with you at every traffic light. It also allowed the owner to be something like that jingle from the old Mounds Bar commercial: "Sometimes You feel like a Nut, Sometimes You Don't". When I don't feel like a "Nut", I drive subtly, starting off in second gear as the engineers allowed me to and climbing slow and steady to cruising speed. When I do feel like a "Nut", those same engineers allowed me the first gear along with the torque and suspension to quickly (screaming rubber and all) "drop the cloak" and unleash the beast and let her climb to the status of a "Fast Mover".

FDR once said: "Walk softly and carry a Big Sdick" Us fortunate owners of the 500E/E500 do not need to dress up our vehicles to the point of "Is that a banana in your pants pocket or are you just glad to see me" because we are satisfied with the knowledge that when we do decide to drop the cloak, anyone watching will know that we reallydo have a Big Sdick.

That is why it is taking me so long to find a 17X8.5J set of wheels for my ride. I want something that will look classy but not brassy and definately will not affect the satisfaction I get from "PermaGrin" when I do feel like a nut.

TOM

OBTW - Had I known that you had a working 10 disc CD, I would have sent a Limo for it. My wife's '92 Sportline had one and Benz had so much trouble with them that they dropped to the 6 disc the following year. The 10 disc player is/was a very rare option.

Hey Guido Speaking of Wheels

On another thread, you indicated a contact in Germany for the Headlights. When you are in touch with him, would you ask if he can get this steering wheel and for how much.

http://eris-car.de/cgi-bin/shop2/iboshop.cgi?showd1850!,2774002720,HALVSW

I emailed this company to ask if they ship to the States but never got a response.

TIA

Tom

I think you may have to cut & paste as the url may be too long. It is a Victor Sportline Wheel and includes the Airbag. Hopefully they will not want the core wheel back as i would not be willing to give it up in case the next owner wants a "virgin vehicle"

I race my car at the race track the ASR light barely came on. When I had my sotck 16's that all that thing did was come on. Sorry on the steering wheel. Im not everyones contact to Stuggart.

Guido.
