M117 into a W124....

I might have the chance to get a 560 SEL M117 engine for a very good price and i was wondering how will that be in my W124 and what parts would i need to change...what goes what stays.
If its an easy fit i might go for it this summer (in a couple of months).
What happens to my diff, tranny, brakes...
At least i know i have 17" 190E evolution rims that i can use

Hey,
Well Diff will take it as long u manage to hold ur self from doing crazy burnouts, or a kickdown into 1st at say 30KM/h roll.

Brakes, larger is sure better, u can always get ur self the 4 pots and larger disks of the M104 320 W124.

For the forum mebs, that M117 he is getting is the Euro spec one, so it will have at least 300HP

Would the front cross members of the W124 need any modding to fit this engine? same goes for the fire wall?

anything can handle boost if the setup is correct. but why would you need boost in M117?
anyways...if you want to go boosted stay with a an M103, if you want an engine swap than you can do the M117. but that stays my own opinion.
there is a lot more info on boosted M103...you can get a lot more help

By boost I don't mean turbo, I mean a centrifugal supercharger.

I am in the process of supercharging my m104, just collecting parts and putting together funds right now.

But with the m117 it would be fairly easy, not much of a different system then the one i designed for my m104, just a bigger supercharger probably a vortech or something. But with that combination that thing would go like a bat outta hell on crack!

turbo or supercharger....if the setup aint correct its pretty much worthless and devastating lol

as for a supercharged M117 in a W124, hmm..i think you will some more space to be able to do it. if not then it must be very tight to fit

I won't be running a/c so I could mount it there or somewhere else, that is the only part I have to figure out, and have to get a 4 door shell. Might scoop up my sister's '89 300e but we will see.

That 500ce build is really nicely done. I have heard that the M117 is more of a beast than the M119, is there any truth to this?

Also, what does it take to get a US spec M117 to euro spec (300hp) standards?

In all honesty, a 350 small block would be much cooler than an M117/M119 powered coupe. A lot more power potential for the least amount of stress and they're reliable to boot.

The M117 is NOT a beast compared to the M119. The M119 is far superior (in my eyes) to the M117.

I think my old man would kill me if I put a small block in a Benz haha. I wanna create a somewhat original beast with all MB drivetrain.

And in regards to your comment about the m119, that is what I thought. I don't know how you could compare a sohc v8 to a 32 valve dohc v8. It is like night and day.

the M117 is a lot easier to swap in than the M119 and is a lot cheaper and less complicated engine. but if you are stock vs stock, M119 is more powerfull and probably will get better mpg

Well I already have a good M117 drivetrain in my garage so I thought, eh why not? Plus the m117 will leave me more room for a supercharger.

Do you know what has to be done to the M117 to get it on par with the euro spec M117's?
