12V rad fan blades
Which is better for an electric fan. Straight or curved blades?
I'd like quiet, low amp draw, but decent CFM.

Generally speaking, curved blades are quieter and move more air for a given number of amps. Avoid aftermaket/made in China fans at all costs. You're better off with a used OE fan than new Chinese made carbage. I used a Volvo puller fan on my 2.3 and its been flawless for a year now. It replaced both my clutch fan and aux fan. It draws 13a on low speak, 25a on high with 30a peak when starting. Low speed is more than enough for my 4 cylinder.
The volvo fan (left) as I found it at the JY vs the 2 stock fans. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/tjts2/mercedes/021.jpg?t=1241739345 Made a custom mounting bracket. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/tjts2/mercedes/036.jpg?t=1241739480 Attached to the radiator http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/tjts2/mercedes/040.jpg?t=1241739815 Installed. I used an old strip door weather stripping to seal the fan to the radiator. No shroud required. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/tjts2/mercedes/053.jpg?t=1241739875 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/tjts2/mercedes/055.jpg?t=1241740052 With a 79C thermostat and this fan, the car has never seen more than 90C in California weather over the past year. good luck Justin
