I also archived photos of that car (1994 E500 Vath 7.2L) on my website at this link, in case it sells and the ad goes away:

http://www.w124performance.com/images/cars/shopping/124.036/1994_E500_Vath_7.2L/

The price has come down a bit, the had been asking 57,900 EUR in mid-2009! There are more photos on the mobile.de listing if you click on the main picture, btw.

When I had the trans module disconnected, the engine seemed to run and rev normally in neutral. Obviously I couldn't take it for a spin that way.

Your going down uncharted waters. Not impossible I went there and lived. But beware, "Dragons be There".

If you hooked any of the MB 4 or 6 cyl manuals (save for the dogleg) to the M120, you'd probably vaporize the layshaft...

If you're going to do the work, get a T56 and enjoy 1800rpm's down the highway.

I know its uncharted waters, I bought the E320 as a parts car for my 300D 2.5 rebuild but I have enough parts left from the '87 parts car to put it back together. The interior and body are beat so its not worth enough to worry about. It would be perfect for some cutting. I'm working on so many projects this summer I won't get to it for sure this year, but I may hold onto the E320 and keep this idea on the back burner.

The V12 should be thought of as what it is...a pair of m104s joined at the hip so the width and length is fine for dropping into a W124 260 or 300 .
The left hand firewall has to be notched slightly to fit the left head .
Trans is roughly the same size and is a bolt in.
this is how and why Brabus built Several 6.0 cars . the shot of the workshop was taken last year and shows a few examples of brabus conversions .
