sway bars for 190e 2.6
I would like to upgrade the stock sway bars to a set of sportline bars. I was told that the results would be negligible unless I install the full sportline kit.
Has anyone out there done this (bars only) and if so were you happy with results? I would like to maintain the stock ground clearance as roads in my neck of the woods tend to be marginal at best. |

Sportline anti-sway bars are only a couple of mm thicker & WOULDN'T do much by themselves. If you replaced the shocks with HD or Sport style & the bars then the car would handle better.

The remainder of the sportline kit consists of different lower control arms, springs and rear sub frame mounts.
If your going to upgrade the bars, go with the largest you can, those being the 500E units. The 500E bars require slight modification to fit but it is worth it. FYI Sportline front bar is 1" thick 400E front bar is 1.055 500E front bar is 1.125 My advice would be to go with the 500E bars, Bilstein sport shocks and either Eibach or H&R springs first, later follow up with the sportline lower control arms/bushings and then the sportline rear sub frame mounts. If you are really feeling the need for structural rigidity, add front/rear strut tower bars, available from www.bekkers.com |

Thanks MBDoc and 2phast for the great info, I think eibach and bilstein is definitely the way to go. I had heard that Eibach is no longer making springs for the 190 2.6 , is that true?

I believe that I might of picked up the last 190E 2.6 Eibach kit around (from Bekkers) when I called Eibach they informed me that all stock had been sold, so I started calling around and got lucky with my last phone call.
I noticed that at www.carparts.com they have the Eibach springs listed for the 2.6, not sure if they are in stock but you could try them. If you can not come up with the springs, Intrax makes them for the 190E 2.6, so you could either get those or the sportline springs. |
