turbo kit from ebay
hello everyone,
i found this ebay turbo kit, i am very skeptical about turbo kits from ebay as they claim to fit your car but it turns out they dont, or that they are of very bad or poor quality. but this one caught my eye because its detailing each and every item the package contains. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-Benz-S-Class-T3T4-Turbo-Charger-Kit-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ270413857662QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_6613wt_941 My question is. Does this turbo kit fit my w126 300 SEL 1990 ?! IF it does, do i need anything else aside from this kit? any fuel delivery systems? fuel enrichment system? computers? anything? thank you |

I've seen a lot of those $400 turbo kits on ebay...I would highly recommend not buying them. You can't even buy a good turbo for that price, let alone an entire kit--must be beyond junk.

i have previously tried to make my own turbo kit and i actually successfully installed the turbo on the car, but ended up burning the engine bay, i didnt have a heat shield and the engine bay caught on fire. more details here I Realy Need Your Help - Turbo Installation - Lots of Pics can you guys help me out here.. i really want to have a turbo on my 300 SEL.. i am willing to learn and try try again, but i need guidance in the parts section, what fits what doesn't, what need to be installed what is optional etc.. to start off.. do you know off ANYONE who has a turbo setup that would fit the 300 SEL ? anything already built will save me a lot of time and resources. |

as RBYCC has pointed out. No kit just bolts right up without extra fabrication/parts = labour & $$$. tbomachines also answered the main reason you would never use an EBay turbo kit for anything. Chinese crap turbos will last minimal km's than blow up & also you risk the crap thing busting your engine due to heat/reliabilty probs galore!
Stay away form them. Also on this note. Be careful about too cheap Garrett turbos for sale on EBay. While it's true certain Garrett comp housings do not necessarily have Garrett written in letters anymore. Some claim to be genuine Garrett turbos when in reality they are just using the Garrett cores & have inferior guts. Cheap wheels/bearings etc. Be careful where you buy your turbo. If you can afford to. Get a new one from a reputable reseller. If it's so cheap that usually indicates the quality. Unless you approach a reliable workshop that has a supplier you can trust then, sometimes you can score a good deal Cheers, Tim

What about a good turbo from say a 617? a KKK or T3...I'm having the SAME thought processes, only x2 and an M117.
