I have been going through the performance section from page one back and reading anything that has to do with engine swaps, W124's, M103's, M104's, forced induction, transmissions, and basically anything that could remotely be related to my car and what I am looking for.
I currently have Joreto's turbo thread open, I read through it once but I am reading through it again. If forced induction or swapping in a C36 (or both) is the answer I am looking for what would I use for engine management? Would I still need to get the wiring harness for a C36 or drive-line from an R129? Depending on the mileage would a rebuild be in order? I realize that going performance anything can decrease the reliability of a vehicle.......with that being said could a vehicle with the above modifications or swaps be a (somewhat) reliable everyday driver? Also, I am not seeing much (anything) mentioned about V-8 swapping. I am thinking it is because the questions about them are somewhat.........Dumb (I could candy coat it but I won't). So removing my above questions about a Hammer clone, M117, and M 119 sohc........is there a V-8 option without having to reshape the firewall and possibly the transmission tunnel? and here is a link for the only 4-matic on ebay that I could find that is in the 89-95 model years, See if you can find out what's wrong in the photo's. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-300TE-WAGON-4-MATIC-ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE-/110629328922?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19c205981a Well, that's not the only one......I just did another search and this one pops up. I have not looked at the description or pictures yet. Even if it was perfect I think I would have to pass, I am not a fan of white vehicles. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-All-Wheel-Drive-Wagon-Immaculate-Well-Maintained-AWD-/250748959956?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3a61cd7cd4 |

Standalone management, in my opinion, is easier than all this re-interfacing of the stock components. Make the engine work, and then cross wire anything necessary, like gauges. If you keep your eyes open, and have deep pockets, you can find manual 4-Matic transmission on ebay Germany. I've now seen possibly two, definitely one. I'd rather have a front sub structure fabbed to incorporate Skyline parts if I did it, but pretty cool anyway. |

The Skyline idea would be sick and might be worth it if I wanted the attention from doing it, I would rather use a MB engine and transmission though.....and if I go with a 4-Matic I will get a wagon with it in all ready, it sounds like the best way to go. So now I just have to find a worthy rolling chassis. |

If you plan on modding the suspension on a W124 kombi, do not purchase a 4-matic.

Not trying to get off topic or thread jack but......iwrock you should give centrifugal supercharging a look. It is a lot simpler of a set up as compared to turbo and requires fewer custom parts. Just need to stay on the look out for a decently priced supercharger. If you want any more details on it just pm me, i'm in the process of gathering parts now. |

If you don't mind a bastard V8, contact Converse Engineering in Rhode Island. They have stuffed a Ford 32V DOHC V8 into a 300TE, and last time I talked with them, they had a LSx conversion going on.
Whichever you choose, you'll have SO MANY OPTIONS afterwards . . . :-) neil |
