Remote (rear) mount turbo size for a E320

I'm looking to do a rear mount turbo on a 1996 E320. I have hunted this and other forums in search of the correct turbo for the application, I found only vauge info. I think this unit on Ebay might be what I want or close. It is item number 260721055204, a GT30,with the following specs;
Turbine Housing AR: A/R.63
Comp. Housing AR: A/R.70
Turbine Wheel: *56-65.25mm
Comp. Wheel: *61.4-82mm
flange:T3 Flange
Bearing Housing: TB34
oil and water cooled: oil cooled
Thrust Bearing:360
Wastegate: interwasgate
I already know that a ball bearing unit would spool up a little faster. but would cost more than double. I have heard of another member going with a larger exhaust housing, I think that will bring in the boost a little too late.
PLEASE if anyone has some knowledge or experience in this please post.

Hi there,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GT30-turbo-turbocharger-T-AR-63-C-AR70-Oil-cooled-New-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ260721055204QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

That's a cheap Chinese copy of a Garrett GT30. Very unreliable units & will last only a certain mileage then likely, damage your engine.

Btw, a ball bearing unit will cost far more than double. There chalk & cheese!

Imho, don't ever skimp on quality when turbocharging a car. Look @ the cost of some of the high-end turbo brands that are factory fitted to Jap & Euro cars. There not many, many times more expensive for nothing. Even a second hand or rebuilt Garrett/IHI/Holset/Mitsubishi would be a better option than buying Chinese crap

Lastly, although more a problem with the GT35 turbo's, having the larger compressor wheel, with the smaller A/R .63 hotside you risk excessive heat on engine parts if you are planning on driving car in the upper-rev range for any amount of time. Yes it will spool quicker than the larger .82, but you trade-off HP. Whether or not this is a concern for you? Just letting you know.

I have an old T3 flanged M104 turbo manifold I built a couple years back I can sell you. I upgraded to a T4 setup and no longer use it. It's the same manifold in my picture. It's setup for a Garrett T3/60-1 turbocharger but any regular t3/60-1 will fit it. It's the one in my sig.

I'm leaning more toward a SC

I favor superchargers. I'm now weighing my options. The SC is now winning the battle of choice.

Why would you go rear turbo? To avoid using a custom exhaust manifold? I wanted to turbo my M103 originally and have since leaned towards a supercharger, just a bit simpler. What are you trying to get out of the engine? Anything significant is going to need a lot of work, period.
