solid gearbox mount

i have just fitted a solid gearbox mount, and the differance is just unbelievable.

most of the delay in pressing the loud pedal and the car movin forwards has gone.

car goes sideways immediately now, not after a few seconds of whip through the transmission.

it is, however, much much louder in the car and engine vibration is much more noticeable.

annoyingly, the clutch is even more aggressive than before.

will be fitting solid engine mounts as soon as i get them back from the lathe guy.

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).

typical, paid a garage to fit the gearbox mount yesterday, today I got a call the engine mounts were done, would have been cheaper to have them both fitted at the same time, cant wait till i'm well enough to start doing my own stuff again...

hears a couple of pics showing the different weights with one in steel and one in alloy;

had the fitted today, differance is unbelevable, all the wind up in the engine and box is now iliminated.

slightly more harsh when driving, but no where near as bad as others have reported.

very happy with result.

to add to the above, the car is now an absolute animal. every time i give it gas, it breaks traction, or starts fishtailing madly, due to the power now all going straight to the rear, rather than making the engine and trans flex.

all the juddering from the front donut has gone as well

next job is to fit all the suspension ploy bushes, including sub frame, and get a four wheel alignment done.

gb was 50 engine mounts around 90 i think... cant remember exacty, you need to look on 190.rev in the group buy section.

are 202 mounts the same as 124/201? even if they arnt, you could modd them to fit, i had the steel parts replaced with alloy, much lighter, and i think the alloy absorbs some of the vibration.

could you post pic of the gearbox mount?

would be most interested in fabbing one up myself, just interested in how you've designed yours.

It is a regular MB part that has just had the voids filled with polyurethane.
