rear roll/sway bar upgrade, the answer is hear

so, we all discussed the e55 kompressor rear roll bar mod, it, or the 210 e50 bar swap, i cant remember which, was posted up on 500extacy, but that has gone , so, hear is a vid of my 211 kompressor rear bar, against a 124 roll bar, the answer is yes, it fits.

i will be making a pair of brackets to move the body connections in board around 15mm, because the 211 bar isnt straight at the interface point.

i will also mod the two steel drop links that came with the 211 bar, to adjust the 20mm wider length of the 211 bar to the 124 spring arm connection, the 'kink' may not need to be 10mm, as the original drop link have a sweep in them, and the end of the bar and the locating hole in the spring arm are not directly in line vertical on the std set up, see video for what i mean.

before i get the experts saying all the problems i will have with handling, this will run with a 32mm front bar from a sl500 r129, which is identical spec to the e60 amg and only a nats nacker smaller than the rentech bars

rear bar cost 20 quid, front bar was, i think 15 quid...

both will be fitted with poly bushes also.

Heavier Rear Sway Bar -- ARB

Here is a link to a write-up we did a while ago when we fitted a 22mm rear bar to a 201. The results were and still are excellent. The info might be helpful to others.

Nick,
If you are running xtra-wide rims/tires: heads up on inner tire/rim clearance with the wider bar and bar links.

Regards,
bobf

I have a 31mm 208 55 AMG front bar but still on a stock rear which is 16mm on the 202 C36amg. I have more understeer and I still haven't found a rear bar from the 208 AMG. Also dunno how thick the 55 bar will be i am hoping for at least 20mm but some how I doubt it knowing merc and their antics. Any idea what other options I might have for the 202. Before I need to go to custom jobs as I'm short on cash.

std e55 rear bar is around 20 / 21mm.

rear wheels are 9 x 18 rays forged, et 32, but on 30mm spacers, so clearance is not an issue for me. i can check to see if the wheels wil fit without the spacers, not til next week tho.

(for others, if there was an issue, i would just shorten the drop link, wich would cam the end of the bar inwards as it was lowered)

201 rear bar wont fit 124, and this 211 e55 bar wont fit a 201.

i contacted the place that bob got his thick bar for his 201, but shipping ect to uk made it un-economical.

202... dont know.

I have had both the w210 bar in my car and now have a 171 chassis bar in my car. The 210 bar works great but it hits the fuel feed line. You need to switch the line to the one with a 90 degree fitting from the tank. The 171 chassis bar fits well but it is pretty wide. It barely fits between the dust shields but fits the mounts really well. I installed the steel end links from the wagon and need to put a bend in them as illustrated in the video but have not gotten around to it. I looked a lot at both the 171 and 204 bars. The stock units on all the cars are 20-21 mm in the rear. They are fairly cheap also. Not AMG parts.

i think it was you who told me of the possible use of the 210 bar, and the fuel tank issue.

that was what made me go for the 211 bar, in test fit, it did not inter-fear with the return pipe, like you indicated the 210 bar does, but the body mount is different, but i wanted to make them greasable anyway, so moving them inboard at the same time is not an issue...

there was a formula to calculate the roll bar ratio of front and rear or something, and IRCC if u have a number of 10 or over then setup is more oversteer. i dunno guys i might be off as i did this some 9 years back, but i remeber i had on my w124 a 27.5mm front bar and a 17mm rear and just as the number i got back then car was neutral to slight oversteer.
