LSD Swap, need a 3.46 gearset.

I have bought 2.47 LSD from a 560 and got it shipped down here to australia, as LSD here in Aus is very very rare and almost nonexistant.

I currenty have a 3.46 185mm diff on my 1988 500SEC, it required the longer driveshafts off the 6 cylinder it came off to do the swap.

Now i want to get the 210mm casing back on the car, which is the 2.47 i bought, however i want to put 3.46 gearing into the 210mm LSD.

Does anybody know if any other old mercedes has a 3.46 gearset in a 210mm case?? I can't interchange the 185mm gearset it seems.

I really need to get this new diff installed as my current one is about to blow (due to some diff specialist giving my car back to me with no oil in the diff)

My understanding of the 2.47 LSD carrier is that it will only fit the 2.47 ring gear.
210mm 2.24 has it's own carrier and then the 210mm 2.65-3.07 group has another carrier.

If you find out if you can use another ring gear, let us know, because I have also have 2.47 LSD that I would like to swap gears out of also.

I've never seen or heard a 3.46 in anything other than 185mm. However, I did hear there was a 3.46 LSD from the late seventies, but not sure of the ring or case size.

Here is a list of w126 differentials I compiled. (may need additional updating) Note, 1st generation will fit the w123, w116, w115, w107, etc , 2nd gen will not.

just a quick update, i never got anywhere with the gearing, i took a stab at a 107 350SLC diff with 3.46 but the offset of the crown wheel & pinion did not allow for the swap.

On the plus side, I have a newly rebuilt 2.47 LSD now and it is installed on the car as of yesterday, not as punchy as the 3.46 that was in previously but it still pulls quite well and i'm surprised I thought the car was going to be an absolute slug.

Next up, new injectors, dizzy cap and rotor.
