Honda Motors

>>>FastNSX
I was talking total N20 shot not HP per cylinder.

I guess you have never seen a Honda 1988-95 HF/DX rod. they are very thin. That motor was not designed for HP. I have seen guys at the SCCA Auto-X those motors. The SI rods are a lot stronger. We use B16A rods in the Civic SI motors and have made 450+ HP on those engine with no problems. So it is not a timing problem, fuel problem on the DX engine. Somethings are only designed for so much tolerance.

Ah, that was not clear in your original post. I would argue a bit with the exact figure, but it is in the nieghborhood.

I have a couple in the garage. Got a real good look at them. Pulled the motor apart to put in new rods and pistons and work the head a bit, but she was running a 70 shot for five years before that. Post to any of the bigger Honda forums and you will find a bunch of people running 60 shot wet single foggers on them - that seems to be the most popular N2O setup on them. Have faith, brother, the folks at Honda build some nice motors. Just pull timing and run colder plugs. Its all good.

I won't go further on this since this is a Mercedes forum.
Riiiiiiiiiiight. ; )

We have kind of wandered off track here. The real point is that N2O is safe and really, really fun if you do it right. Just follow the basic rules and don't go crazy with it.

Random tips:

1) go wet if you use anything bigger than a tiny little sissy baby shot
2) pull timing
3) use a window switch to limit the rpm range you spray over
4) get a remote bottel opener if you only spray occasionally
5) get a bottle heater if you live where it gets really cold or plan to spray several times in rapid succesion
6) if you spray big or spray often, get plugs (at least) one step colder than stock

I also highly recommend programmable control units like the Jacobs Mastermind, etc. They can handle several of the basic functions in one unit and many have the added benefit of progressive solenoid control. Pretty cool if you have traction problems with a big hit.
