Internal engine modifications

Has anyone ever tried to take a Mercedes V8 and stroke it out? Like they do to 350 smallblocks?

Will a 500 crank fit in a 117.986?

Yes, a co-worker swapped a 560 crank, rods, and pistons into a euro spec 500 for his 107.

The engine families share many parts. The m117 is basically the same no matter what. I have never compared the m116 motors but I know cams will swap. I have even stuck a 560 crank in a 5.0 m119 motor. It needs a little clearance work but basically bolts in. Unless you are making something really special like a 6.0motor or a 560 m119 then it is hardly worth it. Just replace it with what ever you are planning to make. Piston and rods and bearings etc are absurdly priced. I know you can get used parts but at that point you are buying an engine anyways. Boring the aluminum blocks is just outrageous and for that kind of money you could build some really wild engines. I thought a m119 with the 560 crank and some custom high compression pistons would be fabulous. Really make that thing scream with some headers and a custom intake.

"some mods improve your car and make it into something it never was, other mods, however, although essentially the same, are not, and make that car a ricer"

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often
