You can get the suspension in Canada from PMG (Performance Motor Group) www.performances.com. It is pricey through them and they don't carry the AMG E500/E60 sway bar.

You can purchase the AMG E500 suspension directly from AMG in Germany. That is where I am getting mines If you get it directly from AMG it cost aorund $2200 or so and includes the front sway bar. The kit is a complete replacement and includes the self leveling rear components. You can call AMG Germany they speak very good English or you can e-mail them. I have done both with great success.

About JP Auto. I have called them also and they speak Englis (somewhat), they told me the don't send stuff to the US. I tried to order the front pipes from them also Best thing to do is to have someone in Japan purchase this for you and send it to you. I also wanted those EVO in the 18inch. Let em know what anyone finds out. Also if you guys/gals need any info on AMG in Germany let me know also.

Speaking of springs

I want to lower my car a bit so I went ahead and called a H&R spring dealer here and he told me that he had two kit references for the 500E. Does anyone know about this? There's two kits, one for 250 USD, the other for approximately 100 USD more? He couldn't tell what the difference is between the two. I thought there was only one reference for the h&R, Number 29855...
I'd Appreciate your feedback...

Oh and about the 500e limited springs being different, I'll ask my dealer as my 500e is going for its service on tuesday.
They should probably know as Limited's were made for the swiss market anyway...
I'd be happy to help anyone needing a part from Europe.

Nice week-end everyone

Manu,

I am still very interested in the E500 LTD suspension parts. If you can ask your dealer what the different parts are (springs, sway bar?, etc?) I would greatly appreciate it. It would be an added bonus if the dealer would also supply us with the part numbers so we can try to locate the factory spec parts.

As a side question for the dealer, can he confirm if there is an extra oil and transmission cooler on the LTD (not available on standard E500)?

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Steve

J-Auto

Last time I talked them about AMG suspension kit.
They said you have to install this parts at J-Auto.

I'll call them tonight about EVO wheel and I will go to Japan
on 10/15 and stay for 2 weeks.
During that time, I will visit Benz-part dealer in Japan.

So I might be able to buy parts in Japan and send to you guys.

Shinichi

I am also VERY interested in the front pipes/"Hy Per Front Pipe & Catalayser;" however, 298,000 Yen @ an exchange-rate of 133.924 yields a price of approximately $2225 (USD)!

I do not wish to impose; however, if you think you will you be able to act as a kind of "purchasing agent" for your
American ///benzsport.com friends, we would all be indebted to your kindness (sumimasen - Nihongo de hanashimasen)!

Please confirm the front pipes' exact price (plus shipping costs); personally, I would prefer to pay you, directly, via PayPal (in case the Japanese company with whom you will be dealing will not accept it as form of payment). Then, you could purchase the parts, in person, with Yen. I will be happy to pay you a fee for your trouble, if desired; please name your price.

RSVP / domo arigato gozaimasu / ganbatte nei -

- Kai

I've looked into this - the E500 Limited did NOT have unique springs. Do not waste your money, unless for some other reason you need new springs. This is all in the archives here.

Sorry not to help, but a number of us have been thinking about this for some time

Shinichi - Thanks man! Good luck on your trip! Hook up my friends here, okay?

Also, FYI RENNTech has done headers for these cars, and that's the tough part of the exhaust system, eh? They MUST have the template, no? I'd call THEM....and Hartmut is a great guy

Lightbulb More Bellof Info

Hey Scott: Here is some info from Bellof in response to an email...

The Bellof HID system 5 is for H4/HB2/9003 halogen bulbs.
Before you place an order please read and confirm the following:

The Bellof system 5 will fit most H4/HB2/9003 halogen systems
provided you have the following clearances. You will need 56mm
clearance from the H4/HB2/9003 mounting base (flange) to the
glass or glare shield located in the front of the bulb. You
will also require 85mm to the rear of the H4/HB2/9003 mounting
base (flange) to clear the wires and control gear behind the
Bellof H4/HB2/9003 HID capsule.

>>>I have a 1994 Mercedes E500 with standard H4 high/low beam
>>>lamps. I have been told that installing the HID conversion
>>>bulbs will trigger the "lamp out" warning light in my car.
>>>Does your kit do this?

All HID systems will do this due to the nature of the operation
of the HID system. All HID systems 'ramp' when they start up and
then drop their operating load once they have warmed up which
causes a 'light out' warning. Good installers will guard that
little secret as how to blank that warning light or computer
warning signal out. We don't offer any technical advise on
auto manufactures vehicles and their operating systems.

>>>Also, why are your kits more expensive than most?

Apples and oranges, who else makes HID retro-fit systems out
there? Before you answer that question think long and hard
because there are NO other companies out there that are making
them correctly. Just because someone sells an OEM Ballast/igniter
and a HID capsule does not mean that they are selling a proper HID kit.

Find out what kind of bulbs your headlamps use right now and then
go out and buy a totally different bulb (i.e. your car uses H4
bulbs so go out and buy some 9007 bulbs). After all they are
both dual filament bulbs having both low and high beams so they
should work right? A bulb is a bulb and they are both halogen
so WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? Try it, amuse us please. Even if you
get that 9007 bulb to stay in place you will have such a totally
screwed up beam pattern that you will wonder what was the point
of doing this in the first place. BINGO!!! Now you know what we
ask ourselves every time when we see those so called 'other HID kits'.

Those other kits try to make a D2s/r HID capsule fit into H7, H4, H3,
H1, 9007, 9006 and 9005. How is that possible when it the HID capsule
has the same base and all those other halogen bulbs don't? It is not
possible!

Bellof does not use OEM D2s or D2r HID capsules. They make their own
bases for the raw glass HID capsules and that is how you get a beam
correct HID system. Bellof HID capsules can only be used with Bellof
HID control gear.

Bellof stands behind its products and is the ONLY company making
HID retro-fit systems in the world that has their products with
world patents to protect their engineering, has ISO 9001 and
ISO 14001 certification. Not only does Bellof build the best
but they also care about the environment while doing so.

Philips does not make H7, H4, H3, H1, 9007, 9006 and 9005 retro-fit
HID systems. In case you think otherwise those are simply Philips
OEM parts using D2s or D2r HID capsules and Home Depot plumbing
parts plus broken halogen bulb parts epoxied on to 'try' and make
them stay in place. Please call Philips if you need further proof,
their number is 1-800-257-6054.

Bellof parts are custom engineered and Bellof does not use OEM
parts that were meant to be use for another application. Every other
company out there is making HID kits that will never be accurate
when it come to a correct beam due to the placement of the HID capsule.
In fact if you take at random 100 of their HID kits and test them you
will find that NONE OF THEM will actually be beam correct. Now you
know why they don't bother to get world patents on something that
is not even accurate. So you also now know why they would never be
able to get ISO 9001 certification. Since most of these little basement
companies making these poor HID systems work in secret how would you
ever expect them to get ISO 14001 certification when they probably
don't even have a proper factory with a production line and engineering
department.

Bellof is a Japanese company that has engineered, fully tested and even
race proven experience with their HID systems. Bellof is constantly
looking to the future for new ways of making even better HID systems.
All Bellof HID systems are assembled in Japan with all the parts being
made in Japan.

Bellof is the only company in the world that has H4/HB2/9003 and
HB5/9007 HID systems that are true high/low beam systems that
produce both low and high beams depending on which beam you
have selected using your factory switch. One HID capsule per
headlamp changes position using servo technology to place the
HID capsule in the correct position for the beam selected.

>>>I would prefer to deal with Canadian companies but price
>>>is an issue too.

Price or quality is an issue?

Crap is cheap and quality... well you know, "you get what you pay for".

You own a Mercedes, why didn't you just buy a Civic or a Corolla?
They are both good cars not even close too being 'crap' cars and
yet you paid WAY more for basically the same thing right?

Four tires and a spare in the trunk, has a steering wheel, windshield
and windows that even roll down, rear window defroster, carpeted floors
and a lot of other similarities. So why did you buy a Mercedes for?
Most would say that you paid too much when a Civic or Corolla was good
enough.
Our last comparison was not really fair because we were not really comparing
apples and oranges it was more like good oranges and REALLY SWEET AND JUICY,
RIPE AND DELICIOUS ORANGES.

Well, we hope you understand the reasons for the price differences now.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask us.

Sincerely,
Bill Emery

Pretty impressive, eh?

Has anyone tried the Performance Products w124 Xenon conversion kits? I'm wondering about the effacy for 500Es, because apparently you do not have a "high beam" setting. For normal 124s, who have the side by side fogs, its probably not a bad thing, but since we have, in essence, an extra two bulbs, (high) would it be to our advantage?

Tom (who is trying to get the most light bang for the buck)

reagarding E500 Ltd suspension

The only difference in the euro-suspension is that they ride on 3 bump fronts and 1 bump rears ...a little lower than our US cars at 4 front, 2 rear.
