500E E-code lights, anyone?

Well, guys (sorry, Phil) I'm cutting a deal sorta direct with Hella for 500E Euro headlamp clusters (for off-road use only, guys). They are considerably more expensive than the regular W124 lights, as they difinitively have a model-specific lens (to throw that aux. high beam way down the road). Seems to be The Goods, and I assure you they were hard to track down.

How many of us are willing to buy these RIGHT NOW? Jim N., Guido, FAD (unless I hear otherwise, amigo) and myownself are in, making 4 of us. Any others? I'm likely gonna cut one deal, one time, and then pass the connection along...can't really be bothered getting into the parts biz.

I'm at $450 U.S. dollars per set now, with H4 (headlight) & H3 (aux. driving light) bulbs but without corner markers/turn signals. Deal includes city lights and vacuum adjust, as I understand.

Regular 'ole W124 E code lights are $375, with amber corners & all bulbs. I'm looking into the cost of replacing the ambers with clears.

Alan/All:

I'm going to order one set and ensure they're of the calibre we all prefer. If everything is as stated, I think we'll all be quite happy.

Alan, what car are you looking to equip? Year and model, please

Thumbs up

Michael , I have a 92 500E . Elsewhere in this site I have been listing the tale about my mishap with my car. I am in the process of putting it back together and since I need one headlamp assembly two would not be that much more. I know that the later models the lamps fit the hood in a slightly different manner. I have seen this on other cars and it does not bother me. This sounds like a great deal !. We wait with much anticipation.
Thanks
Alan

You got it, michael. I already replaced my headlamps with 94 euros but they weren't E500 specific (they were the generic W124 ones) I was planning to chrome the housing and replace the lenses so I have a sort of DIY E500 lamps. Cheaper too.

Vacuum adjust feature

Just for everyone's consideration, the vacuum adjust feature is of little use if you have a car with load-leveling. Indeed if you like you can use the system to aim your lights a bit further down the road; however, I found that when I rented 2 different Benzes in Germany last year with this feature, I invariably left the switch in the highest position.

I personally do not plan to activate the vacuum adjust system, FWIW

OK, here are some questions...

First, will they work on my 93 400E? Will I need a new switch or anything?

Is the install bad?

What bulbs?

That's it for now. Thanks.

Shane,

Do you want simply a 300E/400E euro setup, or are you looking to replace your fog lights with auxiliary driving lights?

If the 500E lights will work I want those. If not then Euro 400E lights are my next choice.

Shane, they will work on the E400/400E but remember, your fog lamps will be replaced by driving lamps. The two have pretty distinct beam patterns. Won't you ever need your fog lamps?

hello men

i've got some of the euro headlight beam adjusters coming.
these are the genuine deal, 2 piece panel and dial.

i have a post in classified section.

no dubs-- yellow h3's aren't too easy to find. you may want to swap the yellow glass covers from your u.s. lights.

www.rallylights.com buy the 85/110 h4 yellow star bulbs, i have a pair, they're sweet! also not too expensive. the yellow star h3's are NO longer very yellow.

thanks

peter
