Shouldn't be too bad. Break the cv's loose before you loosen up the diff, and make sure to either have a friend work the brakes with the tranny in neutral for the flex diff. After that it all pretty much falls the F out of the car.

Did you get the correct speedo for the diff?

I'm not as up on my 124 differences in the gauge cluster, but I'd just snag a speedo off of a 2.82 rear diff car.

the speedo should read from the front tire on asr cars. if u spin the rear does the speed show an increase on the guage?

Jay

I think there are two different V8-124 speedo heads..one for non ASR and the other for ASR.

Both are electronic and if I recall don't both receive the voltage signal from a pulse generator on the transmission instead of the mechanical cable from the transmission.

These devices will work:

Why not just put in overdrive. Then you get the best of both.

I am pretty sure that you can not put a quaife in the 2.24 differential. I will have to double check but I think the 2.6- to 3.06 are the same. It might be the 2.7- to 3.06. The 2.24 is one I took apart and found that it is a different carrier.
