Tire rack only lists a 300SEL. I am guessing that it has the same bolt pattern wheels as mine, but it does not list any wheels that fit.
Yeah, there is a set of 15" Bundts on ebay right now for the low price of only $2000! Ha! |

As Al said in the vintage section, any 5.0 or 5.6 V8 out of an r107 will be a straight fit. Best would be a euro 5.0 as it is still the old K-jet system with no electronics. Find a totalled car and swap the drive train. It will be much cheaper than rebuilding and upgrading the 2.8L engine. And you will get twice the displacement for the same weight, thanks to the alloy block.
Vrederstein makes V rated tires in 14". A bit pricey, but it helps you preserve the look which is very nice. Is your car an auto or a manual? |

There is no replacement for displacement!
I had no idea what other Merc engines would fit, as I didn't know the subframes were the same! The thought of a big old V8 puts a smile on my face. I will start researching those engines and see if I can find one. Any idea on horsepower numbers on those V8s? My car is an auto, but I would hands down prefer a manual, so hopefully I can find one of those V8s with a manual behind it. |

If you decide to just rebuild your current engine. I was going through the shop today and found some brand new pistons. I think there is a set of regular size and a set of oversized pistons brand new. k/S and Mahle. Both have rings and pins.

For wheels, look for BBS RA's. They are period correct performance alloys and do look pretty nice on those cars. I have a set of 15x7's that i'm thinking of putting on my 72 280CE.

Those are nice looking wheels.
I am not sure about rebuilding now that I have V8 dreams in my head. I still have to research those motors, then see if I can find one reasonably close. |
