under belly pan
About a year ago I removed mine, seeing how Nascar doesn't use them. Also noticed engine ran cooler.
Now I see where the young ricers are ordering them for their cars.I would think a belly pan would make your car raise higher in high speeds. Are they areodynamic or just something to keep rain and snow off the belt.

but then I found out that there is also a plastic version also. and last month I have broken my engine oil pressure sensor by drove in to a flood. (We had a big flood crisis last couple of month in Thailand) So i think it is designed to keep the lower part of the engine bay dry. ps. I took it out to reduce the weight |

Most late model vehicles are fitted with them to increase efficiency of radiator and a/c condenser.
Some are to reduce radiated engine noise. Some are used as belt splash guards and some for no apparent reason, except to increase the sale of top side oil extractors ! . |

My AMG on one specific road uphill where the car couldn't accelerate past 196-197 km/h without the belly pan managed to reach 202+ with it in place. So I can confirm it helps with aerodynamic drag.

I believe the primary purpose is noise reduction. Especially on a diesel.
