Raising rpm redline on a M110, how?

Hi all,

I remember reading a post on another forum, about doing some mods to the fuel distributor and some other bits, that will mean the M110, 280 engine will safely redline at 7200rpm, instead of the standard 6500rpm.

Does anyone know anything about this?
What mods do you have to do?

Cheers Frank.

disabling the limiter is the easy bit. stopping valve float and getting the CIS to work at higher revs are harder. i used to rev my CIS engine to ~7200 with only minor changes but i did notice minor contact marks on the pistons. my latest build is planned to go right up to 8500.

pardon so you mean that factory set rpm, also keeps pistons from smacking the head,or valves
My engine power gain is low,is there any need to hit redline?hfm m104

I'm not planning to do any mods to raise the rpm limit, if it means I'm going to have problems with valve bounce.
I seem to remember reading somewhere about somebody doing some mods to safely raise the limit, if its not safe to do it, I won't, it's that simple, I'm not going to risk my engine for an extra few rpm.

Nope. Not for your M104. 3.2's stop pulling around 6100-6200rpm in their stock or mostly stock form. You'll need boost or bigger cams to make it pull past that.
