190E Cossie, back in action,Sort of.

I bought this little project back in march ,85 euro 2.3 16v with unkown miles and very little paperwork .Short story is it had tons of fueling issues, a rusty tank was the major issue.Well after 3 months I had everything set for its madian voyage ,after stopping to give the tank a splash I gave the engine a stir and it just purred on idle, took it up the feeder then drove up the freeway on ramp ,it drove beautifully at speed and gave plenty of power when asked for, exited off the freeway and was meet by a tailgater from he)),alot of euro car haters in this county of truck owners, this shiney new pickup truck gave me a good excuse to see what this engine was designed for ,quick gallops of speed ,as the car in frt of me moved over I dropped it to 3rd gear then 4th immediatlly after ,when hitting 5th I decided to let off the gas and looked across at my rearview mirror ,his flight to gain up was was a bit embarrassing for him ,upsetting for me,I guess his passenger was egging him on ,rolled up to an underpass further up to head back south down the frwy and the car provided even accelaration around the over pass ramp yet lossing them again ,very impressive little cars .I wanted to test its legs so to speak and its got plenty to spare,Im not setting on thrashing this car around ,or ,light to light this car to death but rather had a nice polite non conversation with an otherwise dumb tailgater.I got back to the yard and its know fueling up and down at idle ,air mixture or fuel pressure related ,back to opening the hood for now .

One week later parts have arrived ,a new resistor for the alternator was needed badly, before install I was getting 12.5 volts at idle ,now its a healthy 13.5 and close to 14 while driving, that little bit of extra juice pays off in a steady idle .Still working on changing the 5 spd and differential fluid, mobil 1 synthetic atf was recommended for the gearbox ,80w-90 for the rear end.Not sure on power steering fluid ,its an 85 190e and Ive researched on the internet that reg. atf is fine up until 1986 models, is this true?
