E500 Seat Squeak & New Car!

Hey all - 2 things:

Wondered if anyone had this problem: my drivers seat occasionally squeaks (it sounds like styrofoam rubbing together). Its really strange because its digital - every time I get in the car there is either no sqeak at all or there is a whole lotta sqeaking. Never any in-between. If I sqeeze and hold the right side seat bolster on the bottom cushion it stops completely. Any thoughts??

Also, bought a 2000 S500 this weekend for the wife so she no longer has any claim over the E. It will be a great car for road trips but it was nice to get back into the E this morning to come to work. I prefer the point and shoot method of driving around town!! The car has 20,200 miles and is like new with Starmark. White with Oyster interior, 1 stone chip and 1 small scuff on the front airdam. I think the owner was more anal than me - he left behind his phone list and he had laminated it!!

Any thoughts on the seat would be appreciated. I may pull it out and take a look some weekend.

Our 1993 500E had squeaks. Did the entire Leatherique treatment, and the squeaks are gone and the leather is buttery soft.

Absolutely the best stuff for leather is Leatherique.

Check them out at:

Nice wheels!

I had a squeak very similar to the one you are describing on my car. It came from the plastic cover on the left side of the driver seat. I stuffed a small piece of cloth directly between the cover and the seat, it never bothered me again.
It could also be the armrest touching the console when your adjust your seat a bit too low.

Just some ideas...

Drive safe

Hey BTW the s500 doesn't rattle, right?

No More Squeaks

I removed the covers(2 on each seat rail assy) on the slide railings and mine doesn't squeak any more. And you never even miss the covers cause they're more for decoration than practicality.
