headlight flashing

Car is 1989 260E.
The headlight flashing function does not work (Pulling the flasher/wiper arm). it never worked since I had the car. I'm not sure it is a standard feature on this car.
is there a relay somewhere that controls this function??
Thanks
JackD

Do your high beams turn on at all if you push the knob forward?

Low beam and high beam (pushing the lever forward) works perfectly. Flasher, wipers are also OK
Any idea?
Thanks

Jack-

Should be standard on your car. If inoperable, must be the switch itself.

BTW, if you have the headlights on and pull the lever back, do high beams actuate?

Headlight on of off, parking lights on or off, no flashing headlights.
Can the flasher/wiper switch be replaced without removing the steering wheel' Any details on the procedure involved?
Thanks.

The flash to pass function is built in to the combination switch I believe. Changing the combo switch will require removing the steering wheel, and possibly lowering the steering column on some models. Some one else was having problems with their's, not sure if the situation was ever resolved - try doing a search, I think the poster was Thai GI.
