Question M112 C280 Engine Swap to ML320 3.2L or ML350 3.7L

I'm a lurker on this forum and not sure if this has been done by anyone or not; theoretically, it should be a straight swap to take an engine from an ML (with with intake and injectors), swap it into another M112 C, and you have an increase in power thanks to a bigger motor while recoding the ECU using DAS that is currently in the W202 C280 (1998-2000) for it to work with the different motor.

However, I cannot confirm this. Has anyone attempted this project before? I would think a 3.7L from an ML350 would be just as compatible as a 3.2L from an ML350.

The M112 is the "V6 correct? Have a look on Chrysler Crossfire / SLK web sites. A few people have swapped a 8 into a CC.

Yes the M112 is the V6. I would prefer to keep to a V6 for driveability and simplicity despite the need to recode the ECU with DAS.

OK , I thought the 3.7 was a V8. In theory it would work but unless someone reverse engineers the hex file, you would have to put the entire ML code into your 280. This might not work due to the car being different.

Swap the engine and let the ecu relearn the fueling it will need by driving around for a couple of days. A friend of mine swapped his 43amg for a 55 AMG and left the same ecu. The car was slow for the first few days and then it improved. U can give it a try. Not much to loose.

There are things in ME you can change
Mixture VE and timing that would probably compensate

I wanted to do this swap years ago too,

Jay, do I just swap the long block out and use the C280 intake, throttle body and sensors?

I have someone on another board telling me to change the TB to one used on the early M113 engines, but this will require taking the car to someone with a DAS to recode and/or tune the ECU.
