euro 287... im intrigued by this vacuum line sport mode you have done. Could you elaborate? Does it adjust the bowden cable? And when you say your car shifts normally at 2500 rpm.... are you talking about under WOT conditions? I mean, I have my car adjusted to shift at 6300 rpm under WOT....(Without hitting the switch)

14.6 in a stock 300E? 15.6 would be pretty quick for a 300E. To make a 300E run 12's would mean at least 400hp, probably closer to 450 ponies. I ran a Camaro bracket car with 500hp and it could be a struggle to get out of the 12's.

Check out mag tests for the 92 500E. 14.5's. Most E500's can run low 14's once broken in. 322hp vs 177.

What would a chip do for the SOHC M103 engine? It's CIS. Timing? 100hp from timing advance? Even the 217hp DOHC engine in the lighter early W124 gives a power/weight ratio of 15lbs per hp. Still way out of the 11.x lbs/hp range of the E500.

Opening the intake and exhaust on an M103 or M104 might give some hp, but not 50+.

To get E500 performance from an early lightweight E-Class, you'll need 260-275 hp. Not a chance without forced induction.

Indexing plugs is an old wive's tale.

Ok the chip was for the 400e 119 motor (read the posts). Some say old wise tale but oh well . This conversation is turning into a pissing contest so I will end it here. Yes to get the car in the 12,s you would have to push 400-450 horsepower, that by means of a turbo and all sorts of mods. We will do that next year. We have proven you can get a stock 300e with some mods no major mods though to get in high 14's to mid 15's. Ok so whats the fuss? I mean we can get into gas ported pistons and all that stuff but its not worth it. You do your thing that works and I will do mine . But dont wine about our results. If you camaro is slow than so be it. Everyone knows you can get up to 1000 hp out of a chevy smallblock. But this is not a chevy. We all want to make our cars fast and we all have good days (but mostly bad) at the track. You know how many times we tinkered and ran that car before hitting that? Too many to count .You always post your best time and there it is . I am not an expert racer , but I am an expert in Mercedes . I have seen many that made good times. So there it is if I offended anyone ,sorry but thats the way it is

Came in this morning with good news and bad news . Bad news I have no more bragging rights , good news sold the motor and tranny. Maybe I can find a v12 car wrecked and stick it in the car. Then really run. Someone in slidell will have this motor and tranny. Anyone need some parts? If you hear of a v12 wrecked let me know.
