Rear ride height, 500E, how much adjustment....

is in that rear lever on the hydro suspension? I'm still not happy with the rear ride height on my car, and think I've got the front just right. It's really buggin me, as I sometimes think it's on target, and other times seems remarkably high. I think probably 6-8mm would do it, but don't know exactly how to adjust that bar in the rear hydro setup. I've already got #2 pads back there, and don't really want to go any thinner...what's been your experience? and what's the measurement from the ground to the highest point of your rear fender arch? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, allen.

Farrukh has been over this, and I for one posted heights-do a search and see where it gets you.

I have 2 bump in the rear and plan to go for one bump-why wouldn't you? Are you assuming it'll be noisier? I decline to believe it'd make a discernable difference, plus would they even produce an OE pad that's noisier?

Please advise; I'm interested in your experience/thoughts on this, as well as anyone who would care to post-all welcome, as always eh folks (unless you're talking out your butt, of course).

Yes, I do think...

the 1's would be less comfortable. As I've been experimenting with these things since the late 80's, I've often been surprised that one step in the pads would make much difference. I'm not worried about noise, but more harshness from less isolation. You're aware that the shortest pads are also much thinner, right? I really am anxious to know if that rear adjustment can make much difference. Even if I went to the 1's, I'd only be looking at about 3mm difference ( I think), and I'd have to dissassemble the rear to do so (not that big a deal, but I'd probably need to realign again too). And I think I need about 8 more mm to make the difference I need. I guess the Euro or special edition spring would do it, but I 'd hate for the rear spring rate to be much different from the front. Appreciate any insight you can offer on the adjustment rod, thanks.

I'll talk to my tech about this. As to the "shortest" being "thinner", there's only one dimension that's changing here, and that's the static height of the pad; same inner & outer diameter to match up with the spring properly, just of differing thicknesses.

Sounds like the Limited had the same springs-I had a German talk to Mercedes about one, and based on that particular Limited's VIN it had the same front springs. As to a Euro model spring, now THAT'S something I'd be interested in-I definitely would like to lower my car a bit, and I doubt thin spring pads will have enough of an impact

spring ride height

Well i'm constantly f ing with mine. I have no#2 in the rear. No#1 its going to be a roguh ride I have H&R's already. What I do is once you've located thew adjustment rod. If you have access to a drive on hoist its best. If not a flat level ground. Loosen up the upper and lower 10 mm lockscrews. then turn the middle downward about. 1.5-2.0 full turns. I like to do it when the car is running so you see the actual movement. Yes that means laying on the ground, try to do it when the car is cold. So no hot suspension or rear diff burns you.
Its all about experimenting. Dont be afraid to do it. Just do it! Once you get comfortable you can try all kinds of settings. But Rem if you tunr it down to much. The leveling valve goes into a dump mode. All the fluid will go back to the reservoir. Your ride a will be **** then. Your riding on the springs only. Hope this helps.
