If I buy a 3.6 crank,for my 3.2 engine,what else would I need to hit 285 hp? Please.

Well 1st off congratulations on starting a thread.
You cannot just through a 3.6 crank in a 3.2. You will need new rods and pistons. Some where in the neighborhood of another 3k in parts plus machine work. Just buy a 3.6 engine and toss it in. This will get you darn close to what you want. |

And they are indeed so well deserved!

You would have to short of a rod to get for the stock 3.2 pistons and have skirt clearance issues. The 3.6 piston has a higher up wrist pin. The nice think about custom pistons is that you can set the compression ratio to what you want. If you were to go this route then keep the stock bore and pump the compression up. Keeps a stock 3.2 headgasket and the last little bit of bore is not enough to bother with.

Not directed at you but the thread: 2. I assume he's talking about an sdl crank which while it is the same base, amg hacks a good bit out to clear the pistons. 3. 3.6 uses stock 145mm rods. Mine still have the 102 part no, and it was a 1997 engine. I don't know how much shorter i'd like going on a rod with a 92 stroke. Maybe 143? But anyway... popcorn

They are not the same rods according to epc and i am pterry sure that a friend of mine and i compared them to the stock 3.2 rods and they are different. Have you lined them up.

yep. Same everything, including the numbers stamped on the side. I'll have to go dig up the box next week when I'm off and take pictures.

I thought AMG took the 2.8 m104 and stroked that with the SDL crank and bored it to get to 3.6? Not the 3.2? I am confused now, sorry if I am mistaken...

There is no difference between the 2.8 and 3.2 bare blocks anyways. They even have the same bore diameter.
