I was hoping you didn't follow the drawing to a T.. The one prototype I made didn't fit with the shallow o-ring recess, and it would vary depending on what you can get your hands on.

My MS build is still slow as well as the CNC project.. The summer has been too nice up here this year, ive been enjoying my cars too much to tear into them, and ive been working in my new garage enjoying the summer, and really didn't set foot much into the shop with the equipment. The cnc upgrade is still going slowly, Im in the final steps of the overhaul. The machine was originally a vertical machining center built in the early 80's. It was used for about 40hrs, then stored away for 30 years. I got my paws on it a few years ago, gutted all the out of date electronics and drives, and put all new fresh modern industrial goodies. Should be a fantastic machine when its done. Then the lathe cnc project is next after that. Then parts can be made, left right and center

Excuse the mess, the table is used as a workbench in the off days. But to keep it MB related, you can see a bit of my collection of grills on the wall and the 560 after a nice warm summer night lol

The CIS ecu in my 420 might be on its last leg, ive been troubleshooting some really weird performance issues, and all the factory sensors seem to be working fine... so the MS might be put on that car.. but I really don't want to do it to that car.

Puts my little Chinese 3in1 to shame... I don't know how you can deal with the chips with all that stuff in there though, they're driving me crazy.

Will the 560/420 ECUs swap?

Finished machining the fuel rails today. All I'm waiting for now is some plumbing parts. There is also now a video of me polishing the fuel rails posted on the local Yeti thanks to my friend that was hanging out. You can imagine the motion.

Yes, but the car will start like crap. Ask how I know.

Played with the idle valve today. Got it running on MS, but can't leave it hooked up because I don't have a TPS yet. Stock idle controller uses 200Hz PWM with approx 30% duty cycle at idle, set MS's initial values around there and it worked the first time

Mostly machined a TPS adapter as well. Design found here: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/sl-forum/306569-megasquirt-380sl-560sl-2.html I don't have anything to measure 10 degrees, so I'll just mark and cut the slot after I pull the throttle body.

You can always run it using MAP only. I only use the TPS for a "flooded start" situation. My TPS isn't activated below 70%. Are you using the TunerStudios software?

Interesting design to keep the stock throttle body, does the TPS just bolt in place of the old idle/wot switch?

Ive opted to go with a GM LS series throttle body, because it has an integrated IAC in it. I will have to make an adaptor that bolts to the old TB bolt holes, however reason for is, the way the factory IAC is configured on the m117, it sends the controlled air thru the injector cup around the injector if im not mistaken. Which is all bye bye with new modern injectors. Did you relocate the factory IAC with a different feed path?

I don't see how to use MAP only here, the problem is that it always thinks it's idling without TPS, and the PID winds up when you're on the gas, so it stalls when you let off. Not an issue anyway, I'll have it soon enough, just getting things working a little at a time.

Yep, the one I got is supposed to fit there, and connects to the shaft with the little aluminum adapter.

Not yet, but I'll eliminate EGR and feed idle air in through there. I found a turbo oil drain that has a close bolt pattern and has a hose nipple on it.

Small update.. in the middle of disassembly and stuck intake bolts, but got the TPS attached and my intake pipes fitted.

A 3.25in intake would probably have been better, but the 3in stretched to fit. I might swap it out later on.

I screwed up machining my TPS adapter and offset it slightly to the WRONG side so the throttle wouldn't close... Slotted out the holes in the sensor and made it work. I doubt I'll ever need to change it, but I'll make a new adapter next time I have a piece of scrap aluminum about the right size. Cut the inside hole first then eyeball the outside slots, way easier to align that way since you can see it through the hole in the TPS instead of guessing.

Slow progress, it's freezing out there.

Intake manifolds have been blasted, scrubbed, and ran through the dishwasher. Using the EGR inlet for idle air, but there's not enough clearance to route a tube up beside the throttle body, so I'm routing it around the back. Hopefully the little tube won't be too much of a restriction. I'll use thicker hose up until that point.

To plug the exhaust side, I couldn't find a M20x1.5 cap within the US, but I managed to pull off one of the compression olives intact, and machined a piece of steel bar to block it off.

Now, time for me to go back out there and keep scrubbing out the V. 25 years of buildup down there.

Get her running! Air filter and fuel line arrangement is temporary, have to order more parts, but she drives great. Tuning was much easier than I expected, set it rich and auto tune does the rest.

Bent up some fuel lines that clear the cruise control linkage and factory air filter housing today. Might be one of the most frustrating jobs I've ever done..the aluminum tube does not like being unbent, I probably made 3 or 4 of each of the back pieces before I got it right. Should be able to get rid of the crap foam filter as soon as I figure out how to cut a 3in oval hole in my adapter plate.

No numbers yet, but it's definitely easier to break the tires loose. I'm taking her on a 500 mile trip this weekend, hoping for a stretch of empty interstate long enough to do a top speed run. At the very least I should be able to autotune 90% of the map.

Definitely expecting better power once I get the filter housing back on too, average IAT has been around 40-50C taking air from above the motor.
