Question Anyone for Watkins Glen 5/13-14

Anyone planning to be there? Michael, you said you may go for one day, still thinking? As of now it is not full and the PDA group running the show can still take latecomers.
I'm coming up to run the Pocono-South course on 5/11, travel to the Glen on 5/12 and be there for both days...Monday and Tuesday, 5/13 and 14.
If you want to run on a great track with plenty of history and do it before the summer heat cycle, then skip work a few days and have some fun with your Benz. Come on out....I need some company as I'm traveling solo this trip!! Where are the NE hotshoes??

You guys for real?

I live up in Rochester, NY and I would love to meet up my MBShop members! I have a lowly E320 so don't make fun of me too much. :-)

What are the fees like to just go around the track?

A few years back I had a chance to go around Watkins Glen with some rich people from Rochester and all their cars had rollbars and a side safety curtain.

Where to look it up....

For more information on this event, go to:
www.imp-auto.com/pda/index

For more on other track events to attend go to Trackschedule.com and Drivingevents.com

All you need are a helmet, drivers license, a car, $$ and
kahunas!!

renyf1,
The reason many of these 'driver education' events are during the week is that it is a non-spectator event and most tracks save the weekend for paying spectator events. Also because of this the track rental is less expensive on weekdays and the die-hards will come out. This is especially true for the larger tracks and speedways.
This is NOT a race but as I stated before, a driver education exercise. Inexperienced drivers have an instructor with them at all times on the track unless signed off because the instructor feels the driver has the right attitude, skills, regard for others and follows the rules.
Don't let me scare you away, as you tend to bond with your car more and learn its limits which makes you safer on the highway.
Also it doesn't matter what you bring as there are many 4 cyl cars, even saw a Chevy Caprice 4 dr. (not an SS) tooling around at VIR once. So bring out the MB and enjoy the day.

Watkins Glen

Cant make May - but have signed up for July 22-23 PDA at the Glen. A great track, and MUCH more fun that either of the short (north and south) cources at Pocono. Plus the countryside is beautiful all around the Watkins Glen area. Will try to go up on Sat and enjoy the lakes etc and then the track on Monday and Tue. Any others going to join me?

Sorry to say but I'm out on this one, Tobias. But 7/22 is a lock-I'll mail the paperwork. Alan, you gonna show me around (read: can I put a block of wood under you gas & brake pedals)?

WGI 7/22

Michael-
Glad your going on 7/22. Maybe we can get a few more to join us. (Hendy? Jims 500E?) I may be instructing that day anyway, so your welcome to come for a ride- and then we can go out in your car. You will have a blast- as WGI is WAY more fun than Limerock for big cars like ours.

So, 7/22's the date we get slapped around by an E60, eh Alan

I'll try to leave my pride in the Paddock-should be a good day.

Alan, are you considering Starfest in August? I'm driving out fer sure; have already booked my hotel room. Track events are held at Indy Raceway Park, near the Brickyard (I guess we get to do a few Parade laps around the Brickyard-anybody have any influence with the Indianapolis Police Dept? I mean, how bad could the fine BE if you blew by the pace car?!?

Will they let a CLK55cab on the track?

I'd like learn more about my CLK55 on the track but it's a cabrio. It does have the automatic rollbars in the back but not behind the front seats. I DO have a new Shoei helmet. I've been looking and asking around for some kind of track event to do this safely. MBCA has something going on in Indianapolis soon but that's too far...
