So I spent yesterday removing stripped bolts. First the allen head bolt that held the SLS pump to the engine. Had to tap on it with a screwdriver to loosen it and then was able to remove it. So off came the pump!
I took the center bolt out in this picture to remove internals but after a phone call discovered I leave this in and just cap it off with the billet plug I have. This involves removing the valve cover and while I'm in there will do new valve cover gasket, yay more work. So here is the complete SLS system removed. And a cool diagram used to describe the system I just removed, LOL New plate frame came in yesterday, a sign of things to come.... Got the subframe reinforced today. Now just need to pop out the bushings and off it goes for sand blasting and powder coat. here is a sample of the gold for the subframe and sway bars. This is the exact same color. I did these wheels for a customer.

Got the rear parcel shelf/hat trey/speaker deck recovered. I deleted the first aid kit because the plastic trim was destroyed. So no first aid kit nor speakers and covered in suede.
B4 After Got the front springs out tonight. Did a little comparison with the new Vogtland springs. Factory front spring out and under compression. Now I know how the bomb squad feels when handling a suspicious package. Looks to be a significant drop in the front Fronts and rears. I'm thinking rears look the same but the factory springs had the help of the SLS system and the Vogtland spring wont. I would like to pause and interject some motivation to keep on going with this project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok back at it today. Check this out. Ordered the fuel strainer /tool kit from Mercedes source. I had forgotten that the strainer and new seal was included so I ordered the parts through Mercedes. Anyway, expected just the tool today and got this. The parts, the tool, rubber gloves to do the job, and a lemonhead candy. Cant beat that! Will be returning the parts I ordered through the dealership.
Also rented the Klann subframe bushing removal tool and that got here today. So will be busy this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving today everybody! Between meals, I managed to get the subframe bushings removed. Takes about 10 minutes with the proper tool and the subframe off the car. Cheers.
They were not terrible but some cracks starting. One last final salute to the subframe before its off to powder coat! Both sway bars out along with rear subframe and ready for powder coating.

Christmas came early today. I received the old school Brabus steering wheel I imported from Germany. This is made by Nardi of Italy for Brabus. I love the styling and the grip. It also holds the factory Mercedes emblem horn button which I switched over from my factory steering wheel.

Was your subframe showing signs of cracking? Why the reinforcements. I am going to do something similar in mine but I do have cracking.

no just doing some preventative maintenance. Powder coating it as well to do rust prevention Ok, got the shocks and shock mounts out today. Mounts were shot as you can see. Catastrophe waiting to happen. Also switched out the fuel strainer in the bottom of the tank. Mine must have been changed recently as it looks real good. Stuck a new one in anyway. This is the main fuel line from tank to pump/filter. I ordered a new one just because this one has seen better days. Cant see in these pictures but the rubber is pretty banged up and showing some cracking. No need to put all this effort into the car and have 30 year old fuel lines.

While I await the parts to get here I figured I would clean and condition the leather on the rear seats while they were out. Not bad for 31 years old. Came out real nice.

Can you share where you bought this set?
Thanks! [QUOTE=nippy;3529658]Christmas in October. Bosch/ AL Euros with Euro amber corners. Also doing the Osram Night breakers bulbs again like I did in the blue 300E. I loved the lighting they put out and they are made in Germany. Selling my TWC euros with clear corners and bulbs from the above pictures, $180 shipped.
