Rare W124 AMG s

I need som info please.

I have seen both 300E 3,4 or some are named E34
These are -92´s they have got 272 HP´s
From 93-95 they are named E36 but still has got 272 HP.

Same engine ?
3,4 or 3,6 liters ?

I have seen a performance figure of 0-100 km/h 6,8seconds
Is this 6 cyl stroker power or not !

I would like to know more about brakes and gearbox.........

I did look into this a bit, and it appears AMG did not ever do a 3.4 motor...perhaps another tuner did.

For the difinitive answer, perhaps try & call AMG in Stuttgart?

check out this site:

http://www.ollihart.de/mercedes/pkw/start.html

click on the W124 image and this brings you to the W124 page. At the bottom, they make reference to a number of E36 AMG models, but they have the 4.2liV8 engine. They should have brought these to North America.

I'm not sure that the above referenced (very cool) website is correct on this point - as I understand E36 AMGs had a 3.6 litre inline 6, not an 8 (or at least not in North America). When AMG put 6.0 litre motors in E class chassis, they called it an E60 AMG. why would they call a 4.2 car an E36?

AMG W124 cars

AMG made an 87 300E amg hammer with a 6.0L engine with DOHC heads made by AMG it stared as a 117 engine (560 SL) bored out to 6.0L with 100mm pistons, with the same stroke as the 560 I believe.

AMG made a 300CE with the 3.4 Litre engine as seen on this webpage. This car is legit. I think that its still for sale. I talked to him before about it.

http://www.mbspares.com.au/AMG-300CE.htm

If I had the money Id buy it. =).

If you have any other questions, I can try my best to find out.

Austin

I want one..

But who knows.. Maybe my CE will turn into a CE36 one day..

Neil I plan on doing it at some point. You are my engine conversion mentor. hehe When I saw what you had done, I knew that I had to follow suit and make a C36 engined 300CE.

AMG

AMG did a lot of custom stuff, so it was not un-common to see different engine specs on some cars. Don't forget they started as a "made to customers specs" company. If a customer was willing to pay for IT they did IT....whatever IT may be!

Talking with the early AMG engineers they built a lot of crazy stuff
every benz owner could only dream about.

My friend has a really early seventies limo mercedes with a rotary pimp phone next to the driver seat, and it has a huge converter that weights like 600 pound in the back of the trunk and it radios to the business, then the operator puts you through on a land line. Pretty tight. AMG did some crazy stuff for a price.

Look up a CL63 AMG or a SL63 AMG, or a G63 AMG its the V12 with superchargers.

Greetings,

If anyone would like scans of German publications on AMG modified 124 vehicles, browse to:

http://mitglied.lycos.de/spezialserien/hpbimg/

One of the most evil is the AMG-modified 6.0L M117 300CE :-) Speaking of which, attached is the vehicle plate for an AMG 300CE 3.4L. Yes it is real.

That is EXACTLY right. In the years leading up to the acquisition (integration), Daimler-Benz had a love-hate relationship with AMG for the most part (see also the 500E ;-)

There are two classes of Mercedes wearing the AMG badge: Factory modified cars delivered through dealerships, and customer modified vehicles.

The former was a well-defined limited edition "package" designed by Mercedes and AMG engineers (wheels, body kit, special interior, suspension, etc.).

Cars in the latter category are anyone's game. Ducktail, no ducktail, body kit, no body kit... many private owners went for a full conversion ($75k USD + at the time) but it is not necessarily so.

The April 2005 issue of the british magazine Mercedes Enthusiast has an article on a fellow's AMG E36 collection (coupe, sedan, estate and cabriolet). They state the 3.6 litre 268bhp E36 was the first "official" AMG Mercedes, a year before the C36.

The same issue also has a fantastic article on the AMG E60 W124, which produced 376bhp. Interestingly, AMG used the longer-throw crankshaft from the M117 for their stroked M119. Top speed was 187mph and a special version with 399bhp was available by request.

Finally, the mag has a brief news item about a Mercedes theft ring in London that specialized in W124 cars, stealing about 1,000 cars over six months. They shipped them to Africa for use as taxis Scotland Yard busted 17 men and recovered 40 cars.
