Unfortunately no one has more specific info on this beast.

I could be wrong, but I imagine that the strange hood is preventing much feedback....

...., what's under the hood sure does look interesting though.

too bad there is so little room in the eng comp of a 500e.

It looks like this car no longer has a/c.

If the stock motor makes 320 HP or thereabouts, can this possibly make LESS than 450HP?! The owner must have stock in a tire company, because he would need new tires (Rears anyhow.) about every 10K miles. Don't like the hood, but then who would even notice?!

The grill looks like it's a smaller version of a Bentley grill - wild.

0-100km/h 3,9-4,2 sec topp speed 285km/h.

That car is sooo yummy. Turbo's and Mercedes should always be paired. The hood is funky but I bet it gets toasty inside there, need to vent that hot air. Also, I think it would add class to hide the intercooler a little bit. Perhaps if the grill doesn't fit, powdercoat intercooler black and add a fine black screen in front so it just looks black upfront. People like to show off intercoolers though.

The hood looks remarkably like a Mitsubishi EVO6 hood!

I wonder if they strengthened the drive train and transmission, I doubt whether the stock parts can handle 500rwhp and 700NM.

I'm curious about the top speed, 285 kph translates to 177 mph. With roughly 225 extra RHP, I would think this Beast would do a little better than the 172 mph (277 kph) that a 500E unrestricted should be able to do, any details guys? Maybe the aerodynamics?

The top speed is likely gear limited. A stock 500E is well capable of exceeding its 155MPH limited top speed. I don't know what tranny (if stock or not) or certainly what diff ratio that car is running. Most likely it is redline/gear limited top speed. (2.65 or so rear ends sound about right for that speed but that is total guess-timation)

What would be the rev limit in top gear for an unrestricted 500E? I got up to an indicated 262km/h (164mph) at 6100rpm when the limiter kicked in, so that's probably a real 250km/h (156mph).

Dean Albrecht has been trying to clip the limiter in his car for a while, but has found that the true top speed of the car is gear limited to about 162 mph.

The E55 is much faster thanks to the .83 fifth gear ratio and lower drag.

No idea of what a re-geared E500 would run out to. Probably hits the drag wall (with stock power) in the 170-175 mph range.

When we had the C36, AMG indicated that the C36 (lower cd. than E500) would run to a drag limited top speed of 170mph, but might run out of rpm sooner. The 722.6 equipped C36 CAN run to the drag limited 170 mark.

Given that the C36 has roughly the same power:drag ratio of the E500, I would imaging the top speeds would be the same, given the similar gearing of the four-speed C36. (remember, weight has NOTHING to do with top speed...)

That twin turbo E500 would need a higher rev limiter or different gearing to go much over 160 mph. The 285 km/h speed is:

285 km/h = 177mph. 177/60 = 2.95 miles per minute. With the factory 2.82 final drive and 1:1 fourth gear with 785 revs/mile for the wheel/tire combo this works out:

785*2.95 = 2315 revs/minute of the tire.

2315*2.82 final drive = 6530 revs per minute at the rear prop shaft.

6530*1 = 6530 revs per minute of the flywheel.

This car must have either the ability to rev higher or different gearing to reach 285 km/h. It certainly has the horsies to push the W124 body to that speed, maybe higher!

IF it has the 6100 rev limiter in place, then the final drive is 2.63.

A stock E500 would:

6100 rpm = 2163 tire rpm.

2163/785 = 2.75 miles per minute.

That's 60*2.75 = 165 mph. No higher without eliminating BOTH the rev limiter and the speed limiter. Given the fairly high drag of the E500 W124 body, especially with wider than stock tires (tires add TONS of drag) I doubt any stock E500 would go much faster than 170-175 mph. The higher hp/lower drag E55 runs into the drag wall at about 180 mph, despite having rpm room left.
