I took her out for the first(in many i hope) drift event on saturday. I managed to load ten spare tires, 4 mounted on wheels, in the car along with tools. The car performed extremely well for the first time drifting. I need to finish my weight reductions and get the big sway bar mounted in front along with modifying the rear bar to move the link mount closer to the bar for increased stiffness and adjustability. Increased steering angle is a must also, just a little bit more and it should be great. It was 5-6000 rpm screaming all day long for 30 seconds at a time and was good all day. It was pushing some oil out of the breather later on in the day and smoking on the way home a little more than previously, hope fully not terminal. it was the same temp most of the day until later it was showing hotter than normal but i think it may have been gauge related. The fan clutch is feeling kinda loose though.
If you are near delaware and interested check out First State Drift and First State of Drift on facebook. The guys that put the event on were super cool and helpful and so were all of the participants i met. the events are affordable and free for spectators. There was a bunch of cool cars of all makes. I cant even estimate how many laps i made, i guess somewhere between 40-60. I'm totally hooked.

Well it's been a while since I've updated here. Haven't done too many modifications to the car since the first drift oventt. I did make some solid rear sway bar bushing's and cut the little trapezoid steering stops off of the control arms to get some more steering angle. The car works pretty well but it's a little unpredictable at higher speeds like 70 to 80 sliding it is a little sketchy because of Body roll and the shocks are not Stiff enough. I almost went into a tire wall at 50-60 backwards at summit point raceway in early December. That was exciting! This winter should be good for some body work and then paint. The whole car is getting gutted for weight too. Im working on a serious hp increase for the iron 4.5 too. 🙊

Ok. I was born and raised in Wilmington / New Castle. Those arches reminded me of Del. Park for some reason ... lol

Small world ...

Is there still a Casper junkyard off Rt. 9 before it turns into Dupont Highway?

Is Jesse's autoparts still on the butt end of Market Street or was it King Street, before you go under the RR tracks which is the Amtrack lines now? Jesse's used to carry the old and odd ball parts. That's when I had a 1954 Packard Convertible ...and lived in Del.

I can clearly remember him frying eggs and bacon when he was in downtown Wimington in his store, and who else in the world would have NOS Packard rear brake calipers in a box for $5 bucks each back in the day ....
