W123 280ce exhaust?

I have a 85 280ce with a 5 speed that was given to me and I'm restoring it. I'm going to build a aftermarket exhaust and I'm looking for something with a sporty note but nothing over the top. I was going to go with a Borland muffler at the end and 2 glass packs in the middle as a resonator. Has anyone built anything for there m110? Any suggestions would be appreciated, also I'm using the stock pipes.

I haven't yet but I'll be interested to see how this turns out. I have a 220s waiting for it's m110 transplant. I would see how it sounds with just the glass packs first. I like a loud-ish car though. Use 2.25" duals all the way. It will act as a resonator a little bit. I have heard of people complain about droning on the highway with borlas but never owned one. There is a guy with an Audi v8 near me with a Stirling(brand name he told me) stainless exhaust and it is one of the best sounding cars around. Just some ideas.

Thanks, I got the glass packs on and it took the sound down enough to where I think it's going to sound perfect with a sport muffler. I decided to go with a cheaper muffler first to see if the sound is where it should be. I'm just waiting for the delivery. I'll get pic up when it's done.

I have thrush super turbo mufflers on my monte carlo. They were way cheaper than flow master and similar but they sound good. it a 6.7 liter small block and its not too loud. 2.5" all the way with catalytic converters. not sure if they have a dual in/out though.

I'm trying something cheaper first for the muffler. If it sounds OK great if not then I'll pick up a magna flow or something.

This is mine, 75' 280SL, 2, Porter resonators into a Flowmaster. Had tried glass packs but it had that characteristic inline 6 cyl. bark. Has a cross over for the A/F sensor. If you want to be envious, check out the "Leno's Garage" video featuring Steve McQueens XK-SS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ai0uSj_OVE That is the best sounding inline 6 I ever heard. Wish I knew how they did it. Must admit it was fun flooring mine while going down the street and setting off car alarms

I was gonna say maybe it had tubular headers with tri y design but it doesn't. But it's either a 3.8 or 4.2 straight 6 so displacement will change the sound. Another difference could be firing order. I'm driving a 280se 4 speed right now and I would love to hear it opened up. Makes me wish my Fintail was together already.

Well the new muffler is on.....It's a little bit louder than I would like but it's not bad. I got some leakes I need to seal up from a older repair so I won't really know until I finish sealing it up. I would post some pics but I can't figure out how yet.

It's black magic. Sometimes it seems to work fine sometimes it doesn't. After you hit the reply button you have to hit manage attachments down below like in this picture. Has to be small enough file and the correct format.i have more luck with a desktop than mobile sometimes. So what kind of Mufflers did you end up with?

That's probably my issue I'm using my phone. I bout a muffler off eBay. I guess it's a eBay store muffler. It only cost about 50$ and it's basically a straight through design. I've only been able to start the car in my garage without driving it due to the 6" of snow. I'm thinking of either running another resonator or eliminating the glass packs and change them for something different, but this will have to wait because I got to finish getting the car ready for the paint shop.
