Benz Sauber Frankenbuild

I recently stumbled upon these images of a franken-build that has piqued my interest. Supposedly this was requested to be built by Mercedes, and apprentices at Mercedes/AMG took upon this project, slapping on parts from the Sauber C9. Does anyone happen to know any more information on this car/racecar?

Benz Sauber Frankenbuild

That sure looks like a w126 to me. It seems strange to start with a w126 4-door IMO

Edit:
Where the heck would the engine go? That thing is kind of an abomination I think. I don't know how to translate the text in the one image.

Could be Mid-Engined, like the Renault Espace with the F1 motor stuffed in there!

This is what the translation for the ad seems to be (maybe someone can confirm):

Quote:
If you drive a large saloon for work reasons, you may sometimes look wistfully after a sports car and wonder why there is not a big car that offers the same driving pleasure and handling.

This question has also been asked by the Mercedes-Benz engineers. And they have set about combining these physically totally contradictory properties.
Because there is simply nothing to joggle on the needs: Cars like the S-Class from Mercedes are mainly used on long-haul routes. And not for fun, but mostly for a business meeting. On top of that, the driving distances in this class are considerably longer and the number of passengers is considerably higher than the average - in short: it can not be done without a certain size. And that stands in the old-fashioned opinion of any form of sporty driving in the way.

But this 100-year-old theorem that cars simply do not fit together in terms of size and manageability will look a bit older after the premiere of the new S-Class. And here it comes down to the How: The driving characteristics mentioned by the copywriters like "sporty" may urge the driver to a driving style that he does not want to drive. Or at least: do not always want to drive. The traffic conditions are no longer those of the wild 60s and 70s.
On most of the miles you want a large sedan but rather the stoically quiet straight-line and the overall so sovereign, relaxing ride comfort. All the qualities that our previous S-Class understood to offer perfectly even according to the statements of our toughest critics.

The new S-Class will go one step further in these features. But it will also make the seemingly incompatible agree and provide driving pleasure, which is insufficiently described by the figure above. And not just for moments when the road is a bit more open and your appetite for driving a car is a bit bigger.

Look forward to the new S-Class.

The graphic in the car is clearly not the same as the one in the showroom and driveway. The distance from the doors to the wheel wells is clearly different. It seems the ad was discussing the early concepts of a sport sedan. And then it seems someone decided to make a car that looks like the graphic in the ad. I wonder if it was able to drive, or if it was just an advertising prop.

The ad is clearly a chopped pic, front wheel travel space is about zero. The car in actual pics does look like a home built car.

What is odd is the space from rear door to rear wheel, it is awfully large making me think the wheel base was altered.

The car could have the engine set back partly into the passenger compartment if it really is a driver. Rear brake rotors are pretty small for anything hot.

The very dark tinted glass makes me think it is a prop that has no interior.
