Benz Sauber Frankenbuild
I recently stumbled upon these images of a franken-build that has piqued my interest. Supposedly this was requested to be built by Mercedes, and apprentices at Mercedes/AMG took upon this project, slapping on parts from the Sauber C9. Does anyone happen to know any more information on this car/racecar?

That sure looks like a w126 to me. It seems strange to start with a w126 4-door IMO
Edit: Where the heck would the engine go? That thing is kind of an abomination I think. I don't know how to translate the text in the one image.

Could be Mid-Engined, like the Renault Espace with the F1 motor stuffed in there!
This is what the translation for the ad seems to be (maybe someone can confirm): Quote:

The graphic in the car is clearly not the same as the one in the showroom and driveway. The distance from the doors to the wheel wells is clearly different. It seems the ad was discussing the early concepts of a sport sedan. And then it seems someone decided to make a car that looks like the graphic in the ad. I wonder if it was able to drive, or if it was just an advertising prop.

The ad is clearly a chopped pic, front wheel travel space is about zero. The car in actual pics does look like a home built car.
What is odd is the space from rear door to rear wheel, it is awfully large making me think the wheel base was altered. The car could have the engine set back partly into the passenger compartment if it really is a driver. Rear brake rotors are pretty small for anything hot. The very dark tinted glass makes me think it is a prop that has no interior. |
