Alain, you must of got a great hook up on the E500 Bar, as my dealer was talking like $200 for it. The E60 bar ran less, but anyone interested should contact Tony at Bekkers for current pricing. Same is true for the EVOII bar, since I am not sure what retail on these is from Bekkers.

As for mounting brackets/bushings. The E500 bushings/brackets will work for the E60 bar. I only received two for my bar, I used a dremel to enlarge the other two so the E60 bar would fit. For the EVOII bar, I used some cut down Integra Type R bushings, as I could not locate any 18 mm bushings through MB, almost all bushings like this need to be ordered.

I'm using a 32mm front sway bar and 25mm rear swaybar on my 2.3-16. Big difference in body roll between this setup and stock.

Does anyone know offhand how thick the stock 190E 2.3 8V sway bars are? how about the 400E bars?

The sway bars and brackets were available from Delsing Motor Sport. Delsing transferred their operations to another source. I don't have the web address for either since I recently reformatted my hard drive and lost a number of bookmarked sites. Try emailing the former Delsing owner, Dave Foley, delmtsp@aol.com and see if you can get some information from him.

Regards,

Robby

Actually they had some very well engineered products. Dave Foley got out of the aftermarket BMW/MB suspension business due to the severe illness of his wife. His priorities changed and he is a care giver for his wife. He still maintains his core engineering business of investigating why parts/things break.

I also have Dave's bars on my 16v and they totally changed the car. There is no more understeer at all,,,,, EVER. But my lap times weren't any better than with my old bars.
The car felt great now in the slow - tight turns, but a little spookier in the fast sweepers (felt a little loose to me in the rear).

I will have a better idea though, once I put some fresh rubber on the car, since the tires I had were past their "prime".

I don't have the skill to use the engineering Dave designed into my car. I was turning in lap times 2 to 3 seconds slower than other 16Vs though they were using track tires and I was using street tires. In March at Summit Point my son Hans, younger daughter Anje and I were taking turns driving. Each of us would drive 30 minutes and then we'd park the car for 30 minutes and head out again. Hans was always 5 seconds quicker than me, so finally I broke my rule and road with him. (I don't ride with my kids because 1- I don't want to see how they abuse my cars and 2- I don't want to have them scare me to death.) As he entered the slower turns (5, 6, 7 even 10) he would upshift (instead of downshifting) and floor it. Tires, suspension, driving style all figure in. I don't have the skill of the younger drivers so I need good tires and excellent equipment to keep me out of trouble! In March we were using a new set of Pirelli PZeros 225 .... 15. Tires can get hard and lose their grip even though they have plenty of rubber left. That weekend we put 12.5 hours of gas pedal or brake pedal to the floor and I drove the car to work on Monday.

2phast ... Do you have the part number for the EVOII rear bar? My Mercedes guy had the same price for the 500E rear bar. Are you happy with the E60 front bar?

I did not mean to imply that the delsing bars were of poor quality, I have seen them in person, they are a very high quality well designed item. I would love to have them on my car, problem is, there just too expensive for what they are.

Jim: I have that EVOII part number somewhere, as the OE MB decal was still on the bar when I received it, will have to look for it. In the mean time, give Tony at bekkers a ring, he should be able to provide the part for you or at least give you the part number. As for the E60 bar, since I can only compare it to the stock 190E bar, yes the difference is night and day, the handling of my 190 is now better than my C36 was. I combined this upgrade with front/rear strut tower bars as well.

124 sway bar on 201 16V

This chat confirms what I heard from a friend who turned his 16V into a track car with 500 suspension parts, including the front sway bar.

I am unclear how you switch around the brackets. I have an E420 stock front sway bar "surplussed" from my E420's personality change. It is a lot thicker than the stock 16V one. How did you do this?

On my bar, I used a dremel to trim the rubber bushings just a bit so I could use the OE brackets, it was a trial and error situation as I did not want the bushings compressed so much that the bar did not have free movement, as that would lead to squeaking.

You can always just purchase the 500E brakets, that is what most people do.

Thank you but....

Thank you for the suggestion but I am more confused about the actual orientation of the brackets and bars to the 201 front end. I have the E420 brackets leftover from the 124 conversion. The 124 and 201 sway bars are so differently shaped that I need to know how and where they are placed on the car.
