Exclamation Euro Light Install Help

For all you 500E owners out there that have installed the Euro lights I need some help.

I've finished the custom brackets for the wipers, the wiring and the left side headlight assembly is perfectly installed.

But I'm having trouble with the right headlight. For those that have done this there are three bolts used to secure the assembly. The bolt nearest to the grille is giving me a hard time. I can't fit my fingers or any tools in there to hold the screw in place. I've also noticed that the headlight is slightly larger than the US Spec and it's really tight. Does anyone have any tips/tricks to help me install this bolt. By the way I've tried leaving the other bolts out as well as the plastic attachment on the top with no success.

Placo I had the same issue on mine, I think I used some needle nose pliers to get it in there.

My right headlight was a tight fit on my car too, I just kind of wedged it in there making sure to not knock out the clips. I put the inner side in first, then I was able to pusha bit on the light lightly to get the outside part fitted in its area.

If I rememebr correctly.

You need a thin 8mm. wrench. I've done this on 5 cars so far, and an 8mm box wrench is the way to go

(unless you have a RENNTech car, then God Only Knows what screw size you'll find, right Tackman?!?)

Alon / Michael,

Thanks for the responses. I didn't realize all the E Class cars of those years had a tight fit. I unfortunately don't have a box wrench, just sockets and a standard 8mm so I'll try that and use the needle nose to get the screw in there.

The bad news is that I just went to the dealership to get new clips and bolts to see if it would help and the new screws have a philips head on it . I asked them why and they said thats the only way the kit is sold...oh well, we'll see what happens tonight.

Thanks again guys.
