I'm all for the 21st, I actually thougth the 22nd was a Saturday as well. I'll have to drive back on that Sunday so I would prefer this as well.
So is this unanimous, can everyone make it for that Saturday. Tom, since you started this idea your held responsible for making some plans!

I have that entire weekend tentatively unbooked. San Rafael is an easy one from here, so I'll be there (on whatever day) if possible.

Marin meeting
Likewise for me; Saturday if fine. Tom, what's your get together place of preference?
For out of towners, two hotels come to mind: One is the Acqua Hotel, right off Hwy 101 and next to the Ferrari dealer (unfortuntely closed on weekends, I think). The other is Mountain Home Inn, located half-way up Mt. Tam, with a nice view of the area. Regards, Bob

Saturday, the 21st works for me. So be it. There are a lot of great drives in Marin; I will try to put together some alternatives. as far as places to stay, The Acqua and Mt. Home Inn are good choices, but my all-time favorite in San Rafael is the Panama Hotel, a B and B with a lot of character. Also, the rates are pretty good. Another alternative is the Marriott Courtyard in Larkspur Landing, where the ferry docks to go to SF. Coutyards are pretty reasonable, also. Marin is pretty small, so all of these choices are no more than 10-20 minutes apart.
I would still like to meet at Borders bookstore - large parking lot, and a coffeeshop where we can reconnoiter. Shall we say 1:00, which will give everyone time to get here, or is that too early or too late? Tom |

Tom: The date, place and time are all great for Diane and I. Can we consider a wine-tour caravan? Anything planned for Sunday?

Dean, I'm a recovering alcoholic. Haven't had a drink in 15 years. Someone else will have to organize that end of the deal.

Tom, congratulations on your sobriety. It is always admirable to contemplate the example of persons who have recognized a problem and who have dealt with it in a forthright way.
Dean, my wife and I are wine drinkers, and although we may not have the opportunity to lead a Napa tour, we'd be delighted to at least recommend a few places at which you might stop (as well as a few to avoid!). Notes to follow... s/b |

Twenty five years ago, before I got sober, I started a small winery in Sonoma County (no longer in existence). But I know the area well, and can give good tips on where to go.

Sat 9/21 @ 1pm
>perhaps we can do like 9-10am start/meet window? (vs. a 1pm start) those whom would like to meet early can start early and those later risers can join the camp around 10am? ....in this manner, we can have ample time to chat over AM coffee, gander at 500e/e500's, do the Kodiak moment thing, bond, then proceed to brunch, .......and then after brunch a drive to another quaint artsy-fartsy location overlooking the H20 for more afternoon food (lunch) and more chatting pics etc. we can decide on that Sat 9/21 afternoon ....whom of us would like to stick together for a dinner Sat evening GTG for more fun/ chatting/ scenery/ relaxing in N Cal locale (ie in wine country? SF?) Sun AM 9/22 Departure Group Breakfast? perhaps @ 8am-9am start (Open to all mercedesshop brethern to share the 500e gathering/ photo op?)- the early group breakfast would allow those 500e travelling home to get a decent start time.... >Any Bay Area folks have firm suggestions on places for: a) Sat afternoon lunch? (drive to: location) b) Sat eve dinner and eve rest/recreation venue c) Sun AM breakfest location / establishment best regards -fad |

I may not be able to catch up with you all until 1:00 PM. I suggested one o'clock so that if anyone was coming from some distance on Saturday morning, it would givethem time to catch up. However, I will acquiesce to the group conscience.
Let me know what time3 works for most. Tom |

This date isn't looking to good for me right now. I just found out we'll be closing on our new house around this time and probably moving in during this weekend. I don't think my wife would appreciate if I left all the moving to her!
If dates change let me know.

Afshin- congrats to you and your wife on the new home!
We'll miss ya at the GTG if you don't come!!!! - - perhaps you can give yourselves a well deserved nice N Cal mini vacation break and move in starting bright and early Monday morning? The movers may even charge less to move you over the weekdays vs. weekend- - and there will certainly be less vehicle traffic to be moving during the week! just a few thoughts and best regards -fad Tom - no problemo on catching up with us later. If most folks will be arriving Fri or Sat- please sound off.... tks-fad |
