How from southern CA?

Hi All,

I'm planning to attend the 500e get together on 9/21. I'm wondering how many attendees are from southern Ca. If there are folks that are heading up there for this occasion, we should try to go at the same time so we have nice caravan en route. I'm planning to head up Friday afternoon.

Thanks

southern ca 500e caravan.

Gentlemen,

If we can go as a group it would be less monotonous. I propose we take highway 1 on the way up (Friday 9/20) and possibly 101 on the way back because during the weekend highway 1 may be clogged and that can take the pleasure out of driving the 4 door Porche. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Greetings Visting 500e/e500r's for our N Cal GTG!

Could you give some feedback as to what your plan of participation/ availability will be for the weekend?

ie Sat day only, Sat day and eve, Sat-Sun 12 noon , etc.

I guess we're kicking around activities options for:

Sat AM: coffee/ chat/ drive to brunch

Sat: noon: drive to brunch on the coast, or drive after brunch on the coast, or drive to lunch on the coast (after coffee time), wine tasting in Napa/ lunch in Napa?

Sat evening: dinner/ R&R in a nice place in Marin or Napa?, perhaps after checking into your hotels after our afternoon drive back to Marin

Sun: coffee/ breakfast, lunch, drive to coffee/ breakfast /lunch to Napa?

ALSO: what are the N Cal owners plans on partipation and "like/ don't like's"?

Myself, I'm down with the program the entire weekend. I've booked a room in Marin so I'm available for the whole shabang! I plan on coming up from the South Bay Area for a coffee/ car lookee/ meet and greet Sat AM and roll from there

Tom, any developments/ suggestions on your end? Any hook-ups on fine dining for our Sat meals?

Thanks and Best Regards
-fad

Marin GTG

Gentlemen,

As -fad and I discussed off-line, I believe a pleasant drive to the coast might be nice for Saturday, following our coffee at Borders, next to the MBZ dealer, RAB Motors. I recall that the Porsche club has met in Olema, I believe at the Olema Inn, a German-style restaurant, near Pt. Reyes. Unless Tom or others would like to advance alternative ideas, I'd like to propose that we all drive over to Olema (about a 30-40 minute drive) which takes us through the beautiful coastal hills and redwood forest of Samuel P. Taylor Park.

I took the liberty of calling the Olema Inn, and unfortunately, they are only open for dinner; perhaps we could have brunch or lunch at the Olema Farm House nearby.

From Olema, there is another pleasant drive up by Petaluma; then it is only a quick sprint over to Sonoma for wine tasting and perhaps dinner.

(I'll need to excuse myself from the group Saturday afternoon for another event, but -fad and perhaps Tom can suggest other evening events for out-of-towners. I expect to be available Sunday a.m. for breakfast, as well.)

Tom has suggested a couple of hotels, and I posted a couple of suggestions as well, in particular, one hotel that I find especially interesting, the Acqua Hotel in Mill Valley, right off Hwy. 101, next to the Ferrari dealer. Mill Valley is only about 5 minutes from San Rafael.

We are looking forward to meeting you all, and, with Tom and -fad's suggestions, an enjoyable couple of days together.

Regards,
Bob

I guess my post did not get posted. What I suggested is that, after meting at Borders, we head south on 101 to the last exit before the GG Bridge, take a short cruise through the GG Gate recreation Area, which has some fantastic ocean views packed into a rather short ride, then under the freeway through sausalito. Then back on 1q01 North to Lucas Valley Road, west to the4 coast through Nicasio and Pt. reyes, then North on 1 to Marshall. QWe can then backtrack on 1 to marin, going t5o Stinson Beach, and over Mt. Tam to Mill Valley. There are several palces along the way we can lunch or have coffee. then some down time, followed by dinner at Piatti's, next to Acqa hotel and the Ferrrari dealer. Sunday, I propose a trip toi the BlackHawk auto Meseum, reputed to be one of the best museums in the country. I have not been, myself, and would enjoy it. Alternate plans considered, of course. Some of us may wnat to go wine tasting in napa.
Sorry, my post with these suggestions got lost somewhere.

PS (I hate repeating posts, I always forget something.) The ride from Pt. Reyes to Marshall is beautiful - it goes along Tomales Bay, one of the last unspoiled coves in CA.

Nine o'clock at Borders. Too bad, the MB dealer next door had a 93 500E, but just sold it. It would have been fun to caravan over to look at it!

Tom,

Do you know who bought the R.A.B. Motors' '93 500E? Or do you know anyone at the dealer who might pass on an invitation? Perhaps that gentleman would like to join us this weekend.
