Northern CA 500E meet?

How about a Northern CA 500E meet in the fall? I know there are a fair number of us out there, and I'd like to see what you all are driving, and swap tips, techs, etc.

Tom. I was just reading your post from the memphis, how was the raod trip. I was going to post but, when you drive it say at 60-75 mph, if you have any kinda of front on shimmy or vibration in the steering wheel. You should replaced your sterring shock there go bad after a while. I dont knwo how many miles you have it on.

thought i would mention this to you, inexpensive and worth it.

Guido,
No vibrations since the front end was aligned in Steamboat Springs, where I had the wheel bearings replaced. When I looked at it on the rack in Memphis, it appeared to have a new steering shock.
Mileage on the trip was abouty 18.5mpg. I'm curious what i will get around town with California gas. I watching my gas guage drop like a rock.
However, except for the excessive road noise due to the aggressive tirew, I have no complaints! I'm thinking of going to Bergwerks the next time I'm in LA, and installing first gear start. By the way, I seeem to rememberthat there is a RENNtech guy in San Rafael - anyone know who he is?

Not sure of that guy Tom. But My friend does 1st gear starts, I can probably get you a good deal. If you interested.

this works place. Never heard of them. Do there drop the valvebody and go through it or doe they do that other method I've heard of online.

If the timing is good, a No.Cal. meet would be great.

On the 500E, I wouldn't do a 1st gear start via the valve-body modification.

I'd go to Carl at Bergwerks and do the electronic 1st gear start, that is choose 1st of 2nd gear starts at the flip of a switch.

Likewise! But a lot of advance notice would be helpful. I am pretty much slammed on scheduling through mid-September :-(

Hmm how about south of San Fran 500E meet.

Maybe we can get all 500E/E500 owners to meet up from the west coast and Arizona. I'm sure there are at least 7 of us out here. I would certainly be interested.

If there is a track nearby maybe we can arrange some track time to actually use our cars near their potential.

Any thoughts/ideas/interest? Maybe in September when everyone can plan around it. What does everyone think.

I agree, somewhere in San Francisco, Berkeley, or San Rafael would be nice.

San Jose/Santa Clara County although closer, just doesn't give the Northern California feel.

Would anyone be adverse if I contacted the San Francisco Mercedes-Benz Club to see if they could host us?

Neil, perhaps we should talk about some dates first. I have September off but will be hiking the West Coast Trail from the 5th to the 16th.

How about Sunday, the 22nd of september? we could meet in San Rafael, at Borders bookstore. Has a big parking lot, and it is close to any number of great drives, if we feel so inclined. Also, they have a coffee shop where we can talk. the weather will be great, no rain yet. We use the same spot for our North Bay MBCA meetings.
Sears Point is about 25 minutes away, but I have no experience in dealing with tracks or booking track time. If some else is interested in that aspect, step up to the plate.
