Mods for 190e 2.3?
I have a 1986 Mercedes 190e 2.3 with a 5 speed manual tranny. Is there any performance upgrades out there that I can use to squeeze more power out of my engine?
Thanks, PeterV.

I have just bought this car a few months ago, and even though the car is fun to drive with its 5 speed, I am looking to improve engine output. I don't really want to go through the hassle of replacing the engine. I am thinking about turbo or supercharger applications, or something that would provide a noticable amount of Umph. I also have heard about performance cams and ECU upgrades. Does anyone have any info about these installations?

That engine with the LOW 8/1 compression IS a good candidate for forced air induction!!
Other that that you would have to completely build the complete engine!

190e Performance
A supercharger would be easy to install on the 190e. There is a lot of room. Cost is another thing. I would estimate about $2800
installed for a basic setup with intercooler. Using a Vortech unit. Turbo with Intercooler would be about $2200 installed and that would get you about 225-250 HP. If you can fabricate the parts yourself then the cost would be really cheap! |

Is there anything on the internet that has info on forced induction of a Mercedes 190e 2.3? Or any info about the Vortech unit?
